I'm gonna say it .... Exactly what I've been saying for ages, but with no proof.
Here is possibly the proof. Fastback top is the way, coupled to a front dam, not a silly spoiler.
Now waits for a flaming ..... I'll get me coat.
Regards. Rich.

I saw that vid. That’s why I run a hard top & the little ducktail spoiler does (a very little) something. I deduce that it does something as the top of the boot is clean & the vertical rear panel is filthy due to turbulence. Plus my row of turbulators to re energise the airflow over the rear scree (plus it causes arguments in the the paddock which are funny to watch)…

Nothing new, but a decent video. There's a similar one that 9 lives racing did a few years back (2018?) and Flyin Miata did one around the time they made the Nascar COT wing mounts in 2013 or thereabouts. The main problem is the stuff that works the best doesn't look great!
A really interesting comparison is soft top and hard top ... the cfd he's doing is a bit flawed there as it's static, and the soft tops move around when the car is in motion ... there's a huge advantage in just moving to a hard top over a soft top as the shape is much smoother rather than having ridges, and obviously it doesn't change shape. Fastback is obviously much better again, ideally with an extended lower ducktail as well as the higher wing
I'm heading for a half way house as a lot of people do ... mid sized wing, and a front spoiler with a splitter
