I cheat with an FM cam gear lock tool to 'prove' it's timed. Every time I do it, I think that looks like a good idea. "But this is probably the last time i'm going to do it, so it's not worth it" Until the next time I do it... |

And a gear nob to replace the one that the thieving shipping b astards stole. |

Because it hasn't been in a state to run, I haven't bothered. Couple that with the MVC (NJ version of DMV) being utterly Canoeed at the moment, I haven't had the energy. (I will save my licence story for another time, but I have just had to go right back to the beginning.)
My worry is that I believe I was supposed to register it within 10 days of being in the country. The penalty being a fine.
Given some of the absolute death traps that seem to be driving around without a care in the world, I shouldn't have any technical difficulties. But at the moment, it is at the bottom of the list of things to get done.
Worst case is that I can't register it, and I will just have to only track it. Mixed feelings there too... The roads here are a Canoeing nightmare and I don't think it would be a lot of fun to drive here anyway. However, finding tracks seems to be really hard. Still only finding tracks that operate like country clubs (I e. You pay 10s of thousands of dollars and you get to use our track all the time. Not what I'm looking for)

It's like a Canoeing third world country. It is a very stark contrast to Switzerland, but probably closer to the UK. The gap between rich and poor is eye opening.
Basically Switzerland just worked, even at the worst points of COVID.
Now, we live in a very nice bit of new Jersey. We have a massive 7 bedroom house, with 3 acres of land. And we are at the low end of the township we live in. I don't say this to show off, but to try to give some context.
The roads are a Canoeing nightmare (falling apart), we have had more than one power cut per month with power out for multiple hours (we have a whole house generator because there are so many), it has taken me 2 months to book appointments at the MVC each time to get to the next step and that is a 2 hour drive from my house because there are no appointments close by. And to get those appointments I have had to be up at midnight when they release them.
The cars here are a Canoeing joke. Absolute pieces of prarrie canoe driving around. You only have to have $5k worth of insurance cover for 3rd parties here. So worst case (assuming they are actually insured) is that if one is these Canoeing heaps hits us, they cover the first 5k then my insurance covers the rest (perhaps why we paid 3k for our first 6 months of cover for sq5 and mini).
The standard of driving is also Canoeing atrocious. I am an experienced and confident driver, but the motorways are Canoeing terrifying. Trucks doing 75+ in 55 limits in every lane. People weaving in and out.
But... It's been mostly fun so far...

Almost makes the UK sound ok.. but I'd definitely not go that far with how things are at the moment.

First things first, to satisfy the odd fetishes of Zed. , i fitted my new gear nob and took a picture:  It's -10 outside today, so i popped the garage heaters on:  and sat back and had some homemade ice cream while i watched the latest stanceworks video (https://youtu.be/AQ95rx9PpdQ):  then went out to a toasty garage and admired my new rad filler:  Wanted one of these for ages since mightcarmods keep using them. Got one. Very cool. And then on to the main event. I took the top off again, and the top timing belt cover which _just_ allowed me to see TDC marking with a mirror and torch, and used my new ninja tool. Apparently, I am a timing god and it was correct anyway.  So, i don't know where i picked up the hesitation. Next job is getting a title and registering it. then tuning it. Will add something to my build thread for that. |
