Hi Folks, That was a fun weekend at Werrington Park. Saturday was dry and dusty and I achieved a personnel best in the car Whoopee !!! It was still 6.5 seconds behind David Newman in his very powerfull ITB Mk1 The fastest car in class was an Audi Turbo with Four Wheel drive. I did manage a faster 64ft than David on one run by .03 of a second. One of the turbo mazdas threw its power steering belt then sprung a leak in the rad so he only played on Saturday. The Sunday was Damp and soggy drizzle and light rain all day I was 4.16 seconds slower in the rain. Poor David had electrical gremlins after his practice runs so dropped out of the running. Again Audi fastest, Turbo Mazda Mk3 next, Audi, Tailgate McNoIndicate, Mini ( Pretend one ) then me. All in all I had a great time and drove to the event from home on both days and drove home without any drama. The car went very well for me though and felt very balanced. I will try and put a video up. That’s a real shame the organizers didn’t split off the 4wd cars into a separate class.

ASWMC class structure A3 is for 1800cc to 2300cc so an ITB 1840cc mazda is at the bottom of the pile. I thought that was why you were building a 1798cc engine dickie?

Thats the plan. That might just put me in with a very fast Ford Escorts. Have a look at the A2 Results.
I would be better placed in A2 though.
The engine build is just a mad plan to do something completely different.
My last big spend on the Austin Seven engine is about to take place as Newman Cams have made me a special custom cam and followers all with very non standard profiles.
Next stop Mazda Crankshaft and rods but that for next year now.

Ah yes, I was in A2 with my Mk1 when I came down to the westcountry for some events but as a 1.6 I was also at the bottom of the pile against Elises and Golfs. Luckily around here I'm in A3 where the capacity goes up to 1600, so 1598 is just about right! Will be gradually building up to going ITB over this year with an aim to be ready for next year's sprint season.
Good luck with the Seven!

Have just heard back from Bogg Bros, they're finished making the manifold for my TT600 throttle bodies, should be with me next week. In the meantime, after this weekend's 20-20 rally I've got a bit of a gap between events so will think about replacing the current intake manifold and cam cover with my nicely powdercoated ones...

Nice and flat through the corners, I suspect it's boosted your confidence as well as the cornering performance :-)

Did the Prescott Historique 28th May. To be honest it was a bit of a struggle with my present health issues, but I ran it past the treatment staff Friday & they said if I felt well enough, I should go for it. One of the great things about Classic Marques is the camaraderie in the paddock, there were 30 of us all out to go as quickly as possible. To be honest, I was suffering a little on the day but thought I’d just drive at a speed that I was happy with. However, you get on the start line & that all goes out the window… Here’s not how to do Prescott Hillclimb….

You still did alright, 5th in class and easily the fastest MX5 - how is the CM series going so far?

Think it’s one of the biggest. As for me, not so great. Have cancelled 6 events this season. The organizers have all been brilliant about it. The latest round of chemo has really laid me out, but it’s the last. The daily radio finishes on the 24th June. I’ve got a place at the Canoe Mayo Sprint at Castle Combe in July, so that’s where I shall start my ‘attack in earnest. 🙂

Glad to hear you're coming out the other side of your treatment.
Doing Brooklands sprint in a couple of weeks, then a trackday at Bedford the following Monday as we have a random day off work!
I checked the CM website but couldn't see any standings, do they only send out to competitors? I might enter it next year as it looks like a good mix of events, just many of them are a long way from Kent.
