Hi all a quick question about seats which I hope somebody can help with.
I have a set of mk1 seats, which have surgery to the foam in the base of the seat. These have the seat belt receptacle attached to the seat, rather than the runner as in the mk2 on. They also have a bar which it appears is supposed to bolt to the transmission tunnel.
Is is safe to run these seats in a mk2.5 given there is nowhere to bolt the runner to the transmission tunnel?

I'd say safe to run. I think they're a better seat than the MK2.5 seats.
You may want to tap and weld a nut for the bit that goes into the tunnel but otherwise, don't worry about it ?
As long as they've got four points holding the rails down.
the only points that really matter are the rear ones, IMO.

Thanks - have dropped in the driver's seat and the seating position is so much better. Was only concerned as mk2 seats have seat belt connected to runner and seat, I think. Alternatively, could weld a plate on the seat to runner? Not looked in detail to see if this is feasible. After running at Mallory today might need to go down the rabbit hole of finding alternative seats which fit in the car anyway.
