Hi I'm looking to do a rotary 13b engine conversion has anyone on here done this Not on this forum but there's a few that have been done. I know of a french chap with an NA PP'd 13B engine. It's mazda and mx5 NA/NB is highly influenced by the RX7, furthermore the NC/ND chassis is pretty much derived from the RX8's......

Some good info HERE, maybe that'll help some - although he doesn't finish it. I think if you don't notch the firewall they sit too low? Anyway if you do end up doing the swap, post the build thread here please!

Some good info HERE, maybe that'll help some - although he doesn't finish it. I think if you don't notch the firewall they sit too low? Anyway if you do end up doing the swap, post the build thread here please! That seems to be the fundamental issue. With a piston engine the crank comes out down near the bottom of the engine block. In a rotary, the crank comes out from the middle of the engine.
The firewall and floor pan in the bellhousing area are often a bit low for fitting a rotary easily into many cars. Nothing is impossible, but many rotary conversions go dry sump for sufficient ground clearance so the whole engine/gearbox can be lowered sufficiently.
