Looks great! What amp is that? Thanks! It's a Banda 2x125W. A friend sells them. So dinky and light What's the sound quality like? How much? It looks better than my barebones circuit board amp, I have for my nexus install.

Well I've still got prarrie canoety £15 speakers in the doors with no tweeters or sound deadening, so it's a little tinny, but that's down to the speakers I think.
Even without a preamp and running straight off the iPhone it's loud enough to hear at all miles per hour with the roof and windows down. It's certainly a lot better than the old head unit!
I might still add a head unit for radio at a later stage... Not sure. But that's easy now 😜

Love the little loom for your gauges, looks so neat! Thanks! Not sure if they would be of interest to anyone but as I'm off on parental leave soon I'm considering offering my services based on feedback here!

You should, it's a proper tidy job! I still need to invest in the gauges first though

Today I got a few spare minutes to myself so took a look at the short shifter. No instructions makes this a tough cookie. First up, off with the centre arm rest. Pop off the shift knob, and lift out the ashtray and remove the five screws holding it all down. When lifting off, be careful to unclip the handbrake and window switch connectors. The top shift boot cover is held on by 4 10mm set screws. Put them somewhere safe! I put them back where they came from. The top shift boot cover on my car had a plastic clip holding it to the shifter. I had to butcher this to get the boot off without tearing it. I can replace it with a ziptie. Next up, the shifter. Less lucky here, this one had split. 3 10mm set screws secure the lower boot and shifter. The whole assembly then lifts out. The lower boot presumably only comes off the shifter by separating the two halves of the shifter, but since mine was split I left it on. Last little bit is to remove the plastic ring bush than sits below the locating pin in the turret. Prise it out with small screwdriver. On to installing the short shifter. I didn't quite finish this as a) I need a lower shift boot and b) the turret oil is filthy. Two things to do before I finish! First insert the spacer with the U-shaped cutout. This fits over the original locating pin. The plastic bush goes next and is a snug fit in the turret. Ease it home. The larger spacer comes next - line it up with the locating pin at the front, and so the screw holes line up. The shifter assembly then slots right in. There are a couple of bits I'm not sure about but I'll figure those out once I change the oil and get a new boot! Pretty sure another bush sits on top and then a retaining ring, but there's a ring with three tabs I'm unsure about... Watched some videos and everyone does it differently!

Quickly finished off the shifter assembly this morning. Swapped out the oil, made a Doctor MX5 sandwich, and screwed it all down. Top gaiter back on: Just need a ziptie now. Will do that later. Had a little play with the extension and knob fitted, feels nice and solid and the throw feels good again. This afternoon I'm going to have a crack at getting the gauge lights in.

Thanks both! Finished it all off this afternoon with a ziptie. Then I decided to crack on with the gauge lights. This will go down as a job you wish you had never had to do. I'd ordered some LED lights on eBay, they said they were for Autometer and since you can only get Autometer bulb holders in the US for mucho money, I thought these would do the trick. Wrong. I popped the tombstone out and popped inside, dismantled the gauges and Lo! The lights are too small for the hole. Never mind, I'll make it work, I can't be waiting anymore. There were no connections either so I took the LED holder apart thinking I'd solder on some wires, poke them back through, hey presto. No such luck, the wires wouldn't go through the hole. I resorted to soldering the wires straight to the bulb holder which resulted in me breathing in much melty plastic smoke. It wasn't pretty but it was the best of a bad situation. After testing them on the car, one wasn't working so back inside, bin that one and used the spare (not just a pretty face!). That one worked so all good. I then put masking tape over the holes in the gauges, poked a hole in that with a knife, then poked the LED through. Reassembled it all. Moment of truth... It all works! I'm really happy with how it's all looking. My interior is now 75% done, with just a few bits remaining. Next up is door speakers and recovering the door cards. Then I'll take a break and go back to the engine! The lights will bother me, they are letting down an otherwise really tidy job that I'm actually proud of. Next time I hit up the States I'll get some proper ones. After tidying up the mess, I put the new washer pump in, all working hand the Ford jets are brilliant. Hit the top quarter of the screen while stationary which is good, I'd heard they spray a bit low.
