So my blue mk1 had its stonechip painted blue by a bodyshop last year but I've asked them to return it to black (since they shouldn't have painted it blue in the first place) - but .. I'm having second thoughts.. there are quite a few examples of mariner blues without the black strip, but, I recon with the black lower lip, the strip is even better..

The later cars didn't have the black lower section. I think it works both ways so down to owner preference.

Well if you don't like it with the black strip you can always get it painted back to full blue next year

I like the black strip. It slims the bodyline down and if you've the front splitter fitted, runs a continuous line...
