Both cracking cars. Legacy is a bit dull to look at through and sadly the Forester is not able to tow legally in the UK.

Really? Didn't know that. I was hoping to use that as leverage for anther car. Wife wants to be able to tow a horse. In a trailer of course.

Yeah because they're imports they're not type approved for towing in the UK which is a real ball ache. They will tow fine and you can fit a normal Forster tow bar etc, but a clued up copper will have you over a barrel. I can't risk that towing the race cars with so much money invested in a race weekend. They can impound the vehicle and trailer.

Not much in fact. Check the gearbox is smooth, especially when engaging second gear as the 5-speeds aren't very strong, but with close to standard power and torque it should be ok. Obviously any blue smoke would indicate the engine or turbo is past its best which is possible at 170k. Otherwise they are great cars, I loved my bugeye

A UK spec Forester 2.5 turbo would be fine for towing. Cheap to buy, spacious, nice sound, fast & thirsty. What more could you ask for
