No one as lazy as me at washing their car should own a black mk1!!!! I washed it yesterday, hosed it down and the got distracted!! So now it has dried on watermarks all over it. So advice? I know I should have dried it but what's the best way to keep a black car clean And can I now just rub it down with some spray stuff to get rid of the streaks I'm not looking for concourse just something that looks like I care a bit?!!

A good wax will let the water bead off and the water marks are then easier to remove.

Start again and wipe off to dry with a leather, stand back look at it think how great it looks and what a great guy you are. Then run back in doors as it be raining by then lol

I owned a black car a few years ago and swore never again after that. I was washing the damn thing every weekend, and literally 10 minutes afterwards you could already see a film of dust on it.

i actually thought the thread title referred to ethnic-ticity....... as above with the polish, not Polish but polish, then a good waxing in the shade. to prevent hardwater scale either invest in a water softened, a bit ott just for car washing, or harvest rainwater in a butt and use solely for said job. wash, rinse and drive away

We have a water softener also so if I use hot water it is softened!! splendid!!

I'd not heard of using buttwater for washing a car, wouldn't you want that hot?
(I don't know, I always though you did...)

I hose it off first (I have a pump in the water butt) then a bucket of hot water and car shampoo, then rinse again with the hose and now I will wax to finish!! when I get around to it😉
