I'm desperate to "upgrade" to a mk1 so I've had my mk2 up on ebay for ages now. I've sold a couple of mk2's in recent years without any issues and this one is fairly priced and just as good. I listed it as an auction (it sold at the reserve but of course the buyer was very sorry with the excuse "I made a mistake bidding") and its now on its second classified. Sadly this time round all I seem to get is a stream of mongtards asking stupid questions which would be answered if they bothered to read the listing, stuff like "does it have an MOT and whats the milage" wtf???
All seems very strange, has the mk2 become undesirable overnight or is this an isolated case? I'm getting to the stage of giving it away so I can start looking at mk1's.
Any ideas or explanations welcome!

Interested to hear other people's opinions.
Mine is that I quietly think the economy ain't so hot and it is a buyers market at the moment.

It's become undesirable due to now fairly well known rust issues and cheap Mk3s I imagine.

Didn't think about the economy, fair point. EU referendum too maybe?

I'm thinking give up and sell it another way, it's got lovely recon 16in svt sport wheels with good tyres, I paid a few hundred quid and so will someone else. Then set about listing everything from roof latches to interior, rolls hoops chrome grill, doors etc, etc. actually the whole car's good! Should'nt take long to get near to a grand. I've never broken a car before though, so I'm not sure how to go about removing whats left off my property, maybe just cross that bridge when I come to it. Seems a shame to do this to a perfectly good car, I guess it saves others though.

It's going to take a long time to sell a car piece by piece, but there'll always be a market for good quality spares for these cars. If you have the patience and don't mind dealing with many people who have many questions then it could be an option. Sometimes being rid of the car in one go is worth taking a hit on ultimate price.

I think you'd find it hard going splitting a stock mk2 for parts shifting little bits can take a looooong time. If the chassis rails and sills are good then highlighting the potential problems showing photo evidence that yours is fine should help to shift it. Have you tried the fb groups?

I probably could have made more effort with the listing, I guess I could get the undertray off and take pics of the chassis legs, along with the sills. Tbh it seems the market is at rock bottom.I'm Checking the auctions of other mk2/mk2.5 cars and very few are even reaching reserve. Even nice cars starting at £0.99 are only at around £700/800. Good time to buy

There are cars that look nice and nice cars, not always one and the same. People will pay for a proven solid car.
