Well I thought it was time I did one of these, mainly because I'm an excited child and want to show you all pictures becasue I can't wait to get this back on the road.
I've had my 1.6 G reg for many moons now, kind of like Triggers old broom I'm not 100% sure you can call it the same car. This is engine no.3 now along with gearbox 2, diff 2 a stupid amount of different shocks & spring combo's etc etc.
Started as something my mates used to rip, until they drove it themselves, the usual story.
I spent most of my time back then helping to build a Starlet (GalanzaV) which got to the point of mapping and then broken for parts...which was a real shame as it was build for around 300 bhp. Also had a headache with a S13 for a bit...well 2 of them! I was not in the postion to start playing with the mx properly until recently, so it was the usual mods to keep it exciting while I bought various bits for the turbo build.
Got myself a bargin bar found in a pile over at Andys (autolink)
Then came the dreaded nose wobble, power was dropping, she kept cutting out & finally christmas day she gave up the ghost. A lot of towing later (& parting with a bit of hard earned money) I had a nice recon'd engine. So off to Nick over at Skuzzle Motorsports to see what was happening. Overfueling quite a bit so new O2 sensor & got 98.6 at the wheels in the end.
It was a while before I could do more with the mx, I lost contact with most things cars for a bit, then my mate started off his own garage/unit & I got a nice bonus & rise from work. This happened over Christmas so plenty of time off to help sort the unit & make a start on a boosted mx....Insert lots of pictures of drunken nights in the cold, with limited light & a few mates.
The origanal T25 plan quickly escilated into T28 when we started it to find a cloud of smoke due to blown oil seals. Some yellow RX8 injectors later saw 200 at the wheels on 0.8 bar (with slipping clutch slight missfire that was due to plug gaps).
Then something weird happened, I wanted 150 at the wheels to start with, that was always the plan. Now I had 200 and was hungry for more. Like a crackwhore craving more we kept pushing it further & further knowing it would go pop at some point...oh yeh this was about the time Grant (My mechanical stig) decided it needs to be Pink, and why the hell not?
I ran it at just under 1.4 bar until something let go, wicked fun and a real strange sense of achivement when it gave up. Instead of the oh no what have I done it was - Woohoo I finally blew her up...time to re-build.
Luckly Kev / Boring git had already donated his engine to the cause a few months eairler (the plan was to build this one before it went pop & just swap over).
Then these arrived, the last piece in the puzzle...
This started happening...
Now I'm getting excited, we hope to have her running for the wheel alignement day....
Compleate with new roof & seat...which I'm particually happy about!
