The ingenuity of the criminal mind knows no bounds, sadly.
Another reason why driving a rat-rod that looks like prarrie canoe is a good idea, although it frankly Canoeing annoys me that these leeches on society live off the hard work of other people, with no respect for property or respect itself, and then get Canoe all punishment when they are caught.
I'm no fan of vigilante-ism (is that a word?) but some quick and painful lessons would go a long way...

Even parking something interesting in the car park could be an issue. I only have a humble old MX5, but still a slight concern. Although I guess they will only track the most amazing cars, so not mine! Not good for those with something awesome they wish to take out to places though.

It's very clever the methods thieves are adapting now, and it's still surprising how security is one of the mods that is so overlooked!
Back in the day when I was modding cars Max Power style (yes, I know...) one of the mods to do was to have an all singing all dancing alarm system, especially one that would play stupid noises when you were trying to sleep... but its not the case anymore.
The motorbike world has this one sussed, its a lot easier to take a bike than a car as you don't need to start it, you just need a couple of guys to lift into the back of a van and because of this, security is paramount.
Its easy to play the game though, buy your own tracker. If they can walk up to your house and take it, then you can walk up to theirs and take it back!

Its easy to get complacent. This has made me think about doing a couple of things. Perhaps I'll fit a tracker and a removable steering wheel.

I have a hidden fuel pump cut off. Very cheap, easy to live with but annoying enough for anyone trying to steal the car to hopefully make them give up.
You're only at best ever going to deter people; if someone REALLY wants your car, they'll take it somehow. Thankfully mine looks like prarrie canoe.

A fuel pump cut off sounds like a great idea. Is there a decent brand to go for?

Home made is best. You only need a switch in the 12v feed o the pump and then put the switch somewhere they won't find it. This along with an cut to the ignition circuit is essentially how immobilizers work on old school cars. Modern ones disable the ECU etc.

Cheers Horney.
Anyone know which removable steering wheel bosses work with our cars? I was going to get a fatter rimmed Nardi wheel than my current one. Will a removable boss affect how close the wheel is to me?

Kinki - drop me a PM with your email and I'll send you a guide I wrote.
In general, a removable boss adds anything upto 60mm, it normally attached to the boss that's already in the car.
I have the Driftworks one (http://www.driftworks.com/driftworks-60mm-race-quick-release-steering-spacer.html) - it's rock solid, had no problems with it.

I'm rocking an NRG slim quick release and a normal momo crush-style boss. the crush-style bosses are much safer in accidents - can mean the difference between life and death. a slim QR should add maybe 20-30mm.
the original wheels on these cars tended to be a little bent towards the driver, maybe 10-20mm, so that your hands would clear the stalks nicely and with fingers outstretched be able to work with them.
when I switched to a momo prototipo on my car with an original momo montecarlo, I had to get a little spacer to give it the normal feel again, since the prototipo is a very flat wheel.

Thanks Atlex! So the one I like the look of is £250. Wow. Another kick in the nuts! I'll add the Works Bell Rapfix2 onto my wish list.

I had an eBay copy of that. The amount of play was terrifying.
