Long story as short as I can, I have a massive dog, and he rides with me in the car, either on the passenger seat if it's just us or on the parcel shelf if my littleun is with us. He's getting a bit too big to fit on the shelf now so Ive had the idea of taking out the shelf, moving the fuel tank to a fuel cell in the boot and then levelling the floor to give him some more headroom.
But Ive just found this pic on almonds... I thought that bulge (with the triangle hole in the top) under the shelf was the tank itself, but this pic implies that it's empty, and the tank is below it? or is that the tank and theres a hole in the top to.... drink it out of? float apples in?
How much if this could I realistly cut away before the fuel tank is breached? I'd prefer a level floor for the dog but I can pue a false floor in as required, but the more headroom I can gain the better.
Anyone got more pics of cars stripped out this far so I can see what else is there?

The tank fills 90% of that hump I'm afraid.

In that pic it looks like the tank has been removed.

Looking at loose tanks, it doesn't fit flush on the bptt9m edge of that hump either, does it? It sits lower than that...
Anyone fancy having a go at sawing my car up and putting a fuel cell in the boot sometime? I'll obviously help, and provide takeaways/drinks as required...

I believe the fuel pump and roll over valve sit on top of the tank, filling the rest of the space. Have you considered a smaller dog?

OMG, I've had the BEST IDEA EVA!!!!!!!!! 10 gerbils in the wheel, put the wheel in place of the exhaust side of a turbo. Much boost with zero lag, prarrie canoe it'd even be boosting when switched off. Ladies and gentlemen, I present the 'gerbo'!

Yes, the tanks removed in the picture. But as above, it does fill almost all of that space.
Don't know how much structural stability you'd lose by cutting it up. I wouldn't fancy it personally

Looking at the tank now the boot trims are taken out, I see the space it takes. The way that it is a pod sitting on a flat surface makes it look like it holds no body structure at all, and it could easily be taken out. It can't move backwards because it recesses into the floor it is sat on, but it definitely could be moved.
When monies allow I'll get myself a fuel cell and see where it goes.
