Well chuffed, I think it really finishes the front end off. Will look better when I get the BC coils on and drop it another 5mm. Finances are looking promising for the new year so it might be going into the paint shop for a tidy up and a new hood. I’’ve really enjoyed driving it this week having not used it at all since early September. Will probably be taking it to Goodwood for a trackday in December with the PistonHeads lot as long as it doesn’t clash with anything the wife has already organised.

Well blimey I’ve not updated this thread in a looooong time! Back in may 2017 this was removed from daily duties as I’d changed jobs and the mileage I was doing went up by 20,000 miles year. It was diesel time. So I bought this: It’s frankly brilliant and resulted in purchasing a cheap R50 Cooper as a toy, that turned out to be too slow to be a toy so spent loads mor money and bought a 250bhp R53 Cooper S. Thread here: www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&f=&t=1689842 That thread also needs updating as I’ve done a bit more recently. I also bought another MK3 sport to build into a track car and spent a lot of money on bits, that car started blowing smoke and when we pulled the engine found it was rotten as hell so that’s being broken for parts. So all that leads into where we are with this one. I’d kept it because it was such a great car. I now had the rotten black MK3 to break and a pile of MK3 go faster bits that I’d bought for it. It seemed sensible to fit them to this one instead. First up, Racing Beat Manifold. I also swapped the old MX5 parts back box for the Go Perform back box that I’d bought for the Black one. Mostly because it’s a bit louder and more fruity. So the system now consists of RB manifold, standard centre section with cat, Go Perform back box (no pics of that at the moment). The result? 160.9 at the wheels which is roughly 190bhp at the flywheel. The cars is considerably faster and responsive. It also does a glorious little pop on up shifts once the manifold is nice and hot. And finally I’ve fitted some BC coilovers in th least week. The ride height isn’t altered really however even with them set to 3 clicks from soft it corners much flatter and there’s much less wallowing going on. In typical MX5 fashion it needed welding for the MOT in September. Rear sill on the passenger side where a trim screw had triggered some grot. Looks like the other side will need doing this September. That’s about it for now. I’ve got a full set of new pads in the post and heading to Donnngton on 10th Feb for the first trackday of 2018. MrsHorney also bought a 2 day Ring trip with driver instruction for my 40th the other week. I’ve decided to take this over the Cooper S for various reasons. To that end it will get some buckets thrown in it which will then be fitted to the Cooper S post Ring trip.

I doubt it’ll flame Jack as it still has the centre cat in the system.
No vodka wash. To be fair though it was sat on a pile of bits next to Skuzzles Dyno for a few months so it was probably covered in oily fuel before it was fitted. Lol.

Hi Horney. Um, just to clarify please.....
So this power increase, is that down to just and only an exhaust change? What is the exact change from standard to get to circa 190Bhp at the flywheel on your car? It's very impressive I must say. One other thing. Do you have a torque curve to show as well please?
Regards. Rich.

Regards. Rich. Hi Rich, the power increase is all down to the change in manifold and a remap to suit. The earlier figure on the dyno chart was with a remap but the standard manifold. It does have an induction kit fitted but that’s probably not making much difference. When I’m next down at Skuzzles I’ll get him to print me a torque curve chart from that run.

Horney. Thank you for the fast reply. So a remap? Is this the mazda ecu remapped? Or a stand alone?
Regards. Rich.
