So I noticed my Avatar pic changed to some image stating 100% usage. Checked the pictures I've posted on all forums I use and everyone of them has changed to the same thing!
Photobucket have now changed their T's&C's and no longer allow you to host 3rd party images unless you pay them.......wait for it.........$399.99! It's a god awful site to start with, I've only stuck with it because I've used it for years, used to be ok. So now any useful pics I've posted over the years and my build thread pics have gone. So annoyed. I can't see anyone paying to use their website because it really is crap.
Anyone in the same boat? Anyone with a solution?

I am confused. (Easily done...)
How do they know whether images you have uploaded are yours or a third party's?

Just realised it's only some images that this has happened to!

This is bonkers. Even Flickr don't charge that much for their pro service.

I upload pics through tapatalk. All my photos are stored on Dropbox, although Flickr pro is a very good product too.

If you don't need to remove a picture later, tinypic is pretty useful.
Flickr or buying use of a file hosting service is probably your best bet for long term management of your stuff!

WTF is the point of uploading photos if you're not posting them somewhere? Are they saying you must setup and identify (to them) your own personal website, so they can then check that everything you've uploaded to PB is linked to there only??
Retarded.

It's just a way of increasing the whole advertisement revenue they're clearly interested in (if you visit the site you'll see what I mean). I can post a link to the photo so it would direct you to their website where, as a non paying customer (or if you are and just not logged in), you will be bombarded with so many adverts you'll probably never see my photo lol
The only way to have the image show up on a forum is to pay them $399.99! So for them it's a win win.......unless everyone just stops using them completely and they get no money! Fingers crossed it's the later!

They can do one. Wankers. I tried for half hour today to load a photo. Didn't win an iPad either

FFS. That's borked every photo I ever posted on Nutz. Unless "3rd party hosting has been temporarily disabled" means very temporarily indeed, I think photobucket just hammered the final nail in their own coffin.
I'm still having trouble getting my head round the idea that this is real. I mean seriously, they want $399 per year just to serve a few pics to forums once in a while? They can, of course, do one. If they can't make money from the blizzard of adverts they cripple their site with, well stuff 'em. They're not the only hosting site in the universe.

How much do you bet they turn 3rd party sharing back on in a few days, but with advertising added to your photos?
They reserve the right to do that in the T+Cs.
