make sure the sleave doesn't actually touch your downpipe There's a small gap but I can make it bigger with some tactical cable ties, will get it sorted out, thank you!

I suggest metal ties or wire because the nylon ones will be melted before long at those distances XD I've always found the heater hoses to be far too awkwardly positioned and the silicone versions aren't any better in that regard.

Yeah I've got some metal ones I can use, I just can't remove them once they're on yet!

those hoses survival depends on there being coolant in them lol

you can bend persuade fettle the metal heater pipe to gain more clearance Rich.

Only minor things this weekend, got the replacement Hella horns fitted, as the Stebel knock off no longer fitted with the intercooler. I need to tidy up the wiring, but I'll use the relay I had fitted for the Stebel: IMG_20220731_164737 by Scott Reid, on Flickr As well as fitted up the Proram filter, I went for the 3" inlet diameter as the FM kit comes with a 2.75" filter, so didn't want to go smaller. IMG_20220731_171246 by Scott Reid, on Flickr IMG_20220731_171243 by Scott Reid, on Flickr It's a snug fit, it'll be tough to mock up an airbox like I'd planned as clearance to the actuator is tight, but not impossible. I was going to try mock up something to the Randall intake, but I think I might block it off for now as the IACV is still loud despite the turbo. During the first start up I'd found a lot of what I thought were exhaust leaks, so went round and tightened everything up, there were a few that were loose. However the oil feed reducer was seeping and I hadn't realised how much smoke that would generate, so off came the actuator, oil infeed line, 90 bend, to tighten it up. End result is no more smoking whilst running, I'll need to check the downpipe bolts as they're a nightmare to tighten. Hopefully progress is quick now as it's predominantly putting parts back on, try finish suspension and bumper this week.

Finally managed to get the rear suspension on the car, set about setting the ride height, can now bounce the car on the suspension where-as before you couldn't on the HSD's. It's now set about 10/15mm higher than it was, I'm hoping a combination of height and suspension now make it a better ride/handling experience, no more loose fillings! IMG_20220807_144501 by Scott Reid, on Flickr Brakes and clutch slave bled, front bumper finally put on, freshly painted but picked up a few knocks in storage (can't be helped), have since started mocking up the front lip whilst I had time. Had to clearance a few more mm for the intercooler pipework on the air guide. Had the front badge smoothed as I always think it looks great on a mk1. IMG_20220803_215506 by Scott Reid, on Flickr Front lip mocked up, going to run without a grille in front of the air inlet, you can see the intercooler fills most of the inlet, so should look good, but still subtle IMG_20220803_215513 by Scott Reid, on Flickr Quick one of the engine bay as it sits just now, will try throw on my cobalt strut brace if I have time. IMG_20220807_144606 by Scott Reid, on Flickr Biggest job left is to modify and fit the under tray, it's going to be a bit of a chew. Also ordered the wrong size of coilover socks for the fronts so need to try get them exchanged. It's coming together, at the minute I might just make it, but it'll only take one thing to ruin that. My friends are doing some of the NC500 the start of September, it'd be good to meet them for some of it, so there's plenty incentive.

Good progress, I’ve collected a bit of wildlife over the years & definitely wouldn’t run without a grille.
Have you got a rad blanking plate? I made one out of a bit of aluminum sheet I had lying about, just to force air through the IC & water rad.

Thanks Howard, I've got the grille, I read that it reduces airflow a bit which was frowned upon, I'll run it and see what my temperatures look like. Yeah I've got a rad blanking plate, but not fitted until I sort the horn wiring. Have you noticed a big drop in temps with the hood vents? I've got mesh tsi indicators to go on, I think they're recommended for a bump in cooling capacity. I had a quick look through your thread, I couldn't see any recent videos with the turbo setup?

I'll definitely run the under tray, block off some of the gaps I need to cut for the intercooler pipework, started measuring it up yesterday, if I end up butchering it, it can be the test run I've convinced myself. It was a pain to fit before adding in all this pipework! I see the US recommend blocking off round the rad, just use some self adhesive foam? We used to use some PUNF foam on our A/C units, I was thinking of something similar, but not quite sure how that'd hold up. I had a quick look through your thread, I couldn't see any recent videos with the turbo setup? have a looksee here & a few posts later mighty5s.com/post/53942/threadRich. I looked and completely missed that, thanks for the link.
