Didn't bench bleed the master cylinder, should have bench bled the master cylinder! I've 2 options, remove and bench bleed, or use some small fittings to loop hose back into the reservoir and "bench bleed" in the car.
Not sure which way to go to be honest.
On a side note, the cheapo hand bleed unit works a treat, so should be able to bleed them myself.

I realise I'm not one to talk on the best way to do clutch hydraulics, but what you could do is unbolt the slave cylinder (but not undo the line), pull it up so it's sitting higher than the master cylinder, and bleed them both at the same time. Air from the master will go up to the slave and then out of the slave's bleed nipple... at least in theory

Weighing up the options for the best way to do it, ideally I don't' want to remove it from the car, but it might be the path of least resistance.

I normally bleed hydraulics the lazy way.... fill reservoir & open bleed-nipples Rich.

Tried pulling it through with a vaccum and got nowhere either. I might try my hack method first as it means removing the least.

Have found why I can't bleed the brakes: IMG_20230214_192332 by Scott Reid, on Flickr This fitting/master cylinder hole is leaking, it'll tighten up but looks as though the pipe will not seal correctly - the other connections can be hand tightened and nipped up, this one needs spanner'd the whole way almost. Autolink have shipped another master cylinder to try as well as 2 replacement pipes, as always excellent service. Will try them when they arrive.

Urgh, bleeding brakes and going through good fluid is annoying enough without that to deal with. Is there any difference betweem the mk1 and mk2 non abs master cylinder in terms of assistance?

Is there any difference betweem the mk1 and mk2 non abs master cylinder in terms of assistance? mk2 and mk2.5 both switch out to a bigger bore, that matches the brake booster. I thought I'd swap them all over and be happy days, going to try bleed again with an assistant and see what happens. Currently the replacement master cylinder is still doing the same, but 100% no leaks this time. I wish I hadn't swapped it!

Bought a replacement mk1/2 servo to replace my old one and the mk2.5 unit, arrived and it needed a bit of fresh paint as they all seem to do. used some stone guard as it goes on quite easy and gives a good finish. Can now remove a servo and MC and refit in under an hour, not a skill I really need! I think the ProRam Filter might be too big, but I've got a slightly smaller one to try should I need the clearance. Got some gold tape to go on and rubber edge trim to seal everything up, should look purposeful at least when done. IMG_20230224_162158 by Scott Reid, on Flickr Cardboard to the rescue, trying to keep the intake pipe as large as possible. Due to where I've fitted the turbo actuator, things are quite tight - plus the bonnet vents are in close proximity. I saw someone post on Facebook they saw 2-3 degrees lower moving, but up to -10 degrees when stationary, certainly worthwhile since I've got some time until the tuner gets it. IMG_20230224_165755 by Scott Reid, on Flickr Guys with the sports big brakes, did you change the brake lines? I've got braided lines that say they should work but I've seen a post that advises against, but it was a drifter and looks like it pulled out the line on full lock. Thought it was worth checking.

I’ve got braided lines (Hel?) they are a bit borderline on full lock.
