G'Day all. Let me introduce my Eunos:
This thread is going to be used as an 'ongoing build' to document my journey with it - I'm hoping ya'll will be able to give advise and criticism along the way.
I'm an advocate of the phrase "A photo speaks a thousand words" and as such, this thread will be mostly photos, so slow bandwidth users, you have been warned.
The History
I've owned her for almost four years now. It was my first Jap car, first RWD car, and i'm hoping it will be my first petrol turbo car
Here's the journey so far:
First night of collection.
From what i can peace together, it was imported in the late 90's/early 2000's and was used for a year or two in London area, before being off the road for around 5 years. Then it was on the road for another couple of years before (I assume) being off the road again. The next I know of is it being back on the road with the lad who I bought it off.
The previous owner had (from what i can see from photos) been the first to modify it, fitting some Oz F1+'s, An aftermarket head-unit, Cheap coilovers, Jap can exhaust (At a very JDM 45" angle) and a "Momo" wheel (Rep I believe)
Apart from that, she was bone stock.
First mod from me was LED sidelights as i had some 501's laying around, and fitting a newer headunit.
I also removed the wind breaker. Not really my thing.
I also spent the first weekend doing a full service & deep clean.
Over the coming weeks she acquired a tow strap and a roof I picked up for a steal.
[In hindsight I think the tow strap is not for me; but hay-ho we live and learn]
Small things happened such as light tinting etc, but the first month or so was just enjoying it for what it was, and building up my.. Errm, "Confidence" in my first rear wheel drive car. (I'll be the first to admit that i had some twitchy bum moments )
A fair few purchases and weekends later, she was sporting a GV style front lip, and a TR lane rollbar. (Seen in later photos)
She was getting there!
After being fed up of the corrosion on the wheels, they got rattle canned black.
I added gold accents, fitted a K&N air filter (With obligitory heat soak ) & I fitted some GV style side feed skirts.
Now, in hindsight; [yet again]
I really do wonder what I was thinking..
Black, Blue, Red & Gold?
Really??! - But hey- we live and learn.
Anyway -
Soon enough I focused on interior:
- Retrimmed roof "Headlining" - Or lack of.
- Picked up some cheap Cobra Monaco's
Note: If you know, you know. But Jheeze you need iron buns to withstand these seats for any kind of journey.
- Changed the gear knob
- Added some [Sarcasm] Lovely [/Sarcasm] floral.. things on the mirror. (Hindsight is a wonderful thing)
Mygodwhatwasithinking.jpg
- And some totally legit unbranded red 3 point harness'
*Nobody died*
And she stayed like that for a short while.
Dodging speedbumps was fun.
Winter was rolling around, MOT was running out, My plans were to garage her for the winter whilst some mild performance work was carried out.. For her to return in the spring like the budding flower she was.
Sadly; During this aforementioned winter; I bought a Honda Civic [judge me, oh god why]
To summerise this act of traitory-
- Did a B16 Swap
- VTEC YO
- DID A VAPE
- Did handling mods
- Cared more about VTEC
- Kind of forgot and neglected the 5. [even though I did continue to buy parts for it]
Oh how I feel so guilty.
I did however buy parts galore -
Turbo and Manifold, some other turbo bits.
Full Duce bodykit
A few little bits
[Sadly they all got sold when the Honda did what Honda's do best and need more power]
This is one of the last pics I have of the 5 - In the storage yard next to the daily - Splitter sold (For the duce kit to go on)
And then, over time, the seats and harness' came out and went into the civic - the wheels went on the civic - the love went into the civic.
And the 5 stayed in a dry, dusty garage. For a few years.
Until current day - The Civic was sold - I had realised what I had done and felt emotionally awful - And the 5 came out for MOT
*And failed horrifically.*
NSR Arch
NSF ARCH
She needed the time and effort to recuperate from the neglect. - Needed new brakes - Front wings were rotten - Sills rotten in places.
This happened a few weeks ago, and bits and bobs have been done.
Felt it was appropiate to give some context to the build.
As I type this - Still no MOT, not quite ready - but i'll update this with what i've done later.
Lets just say that the sills are like my name - Full of holes.
Until the next update -
