So erm. This happened.. I convinced my wife that a Honeymoon to scotland, in a sports car, would be a great idea.
Speyside, followed by the northern main bit of the NC500 clockwise, followed by Isle of Mull.
Damage ? 3K KMs, two LEDs and some grounding out of the front bottom brace especially on Mull. And 3 points hopefully (82 in a 70) from the stupid motorway on-a-bridge mobile scameras.
Route..
Mindblowingly beautiful Tobermory on the Isle of Mull looking back at the mainland..
Eyelovingly sexy scenery at Tongue at the top of the NC500
Summerisles west coast low-population density paradise
Eyes glazed over / look of satisfaction after part of the section between Inverness and Ullapool. Canoe that was good driving road. And pretty scenery. I'd drive it every weekend if I could.
Speyside whiskey tours are amazing. Wife likes whisky. Winner.
So more wordage:
NC500 is definitely roadsterable on lowered suspension. I used about 4 tanks worth of octane boosters. Mull is not so roadsterable but if you are on standard suspension it might work - You probably want 62cm between road surface and wheel arches, or, just take a prarrie canoeter hirecar from Oban airport.
Managed to pack 8 bottles of whisky in the boot along with luggage. And cheese. And biscuits. No spare tyre because LOL.
Wife comment "It looked like a picture, and partly like a deserted island - you can shout and no one will hear you, but also you can be in trouble and no one can help you. Oh and Alex had a boot of stuff but no spare tyre. Wonderful highland cows and calves. Even when it was raining it wasn't cold and wasn't windy, so you can stay in the rain and enjoy the nature. Extremely delicious seafood. I would definitely go again. You feel triumph when you reach the end of the earth and there is only water. It's beautiful when it is cloudy and also when sunny and also at sunset.. so many different ways to see the landscape. And I love the smell of distilleries. Lots of hotels booked but also many caravaners."
If I did it again I'd be tempted to camp a bit more - one day camping, one day hotel, repeat.
Better photos to follow when I can be bothered. Took too many.
