The Wall, full volume, annoying Spanish neighbours and drinking Estrella, bliss...

After I'd had a massive (and life-saving) back operation. I was in hospital for about a month in recovery. High on Morphine, reading sci-fi and listening to this album. Still got the CD somewhere. The tracks are the best blend of raw prodigy and polished production. The Narcotic suite at the end holds a very special place.

A completely different take on one of my all favourite songs. Not to everyone's taste. Couldn't quite make up my mind if I liked it or not at first.

I am old so Experience is still my favourite but the sheer energy of Jilted Generation is amazing - it's one of those albums you can't help but listen to loud! (Public Service Announcement: Do Not Listen To Prodigy While Driving... )

yeah Experience is pure raw, but not polished in any way. Every song leaves a mark a bit deeper but a bit rougher.

Today I watched "BBC Proms: Nicola Benedetti with the NYO" on BBC4 - really very good.
They may be 'only' a National Youth Orchestra but they were excellent and had some real energy playing, and it was a lot more fun than some of the more 'formal' pieces the Proms puts on!

yeah Experience is pure raw, but not polished in any way. Every song leaves a mark a bit deeper but a bit rougher. I can kind of see how some people get 'stuck' in a particular time period when it comes to music, never really moving on to experience more new stuff - if music marked an intense period of your youth or new beginnings or something else similarly 'strong', I guess nothing newer will be 'the same' again. Perhaps it's like chasing an unreachable 'high' - in that we will never be that young again and we are lot more settled as we get older, so anything newer is likely to leave less of a mark on our souls? Who knows... I try to restrict listening to older stuff so that it doesn't get 'diluted', and also so I'm not one of those people who only ever listen to the same 3 or 4 albums (like the missus' neighbours lol) - it does also mean that I try to listen to new stuff and keep relatively up-to-date. I kind of think that if we associate music with periods of our lives, we should listen to contemporary stuff all the time, so life is marked with time-accurate music! lol

Currently listening to "The New Rules of Marketing and PR" audio book (bought for me by the CEO because he wants to spend less). What a dog-pile... only useful if you are unaware of something called the internet.
