Hi all
A quick question... I've just bought some new wheels, with 8j width. I'm planning on fitting Yokohama AD08Rs to them, but I'm unsure what width to go for. A number of people seem to run 195 width on them, but that seems to need a bit of stretch (though they are a fairly square tyre anyway). Otherwise 205 would work, but then this is ever-so-slightly over size.
What do most people run on an 8j rim?
Cheers

I had both 195 and 205 on 8j 15" Rota zero
The 195 was definitely too thin for me. Really noticeable stretch
The 205 was nice and chunky but I got a 50 profile so was too tall really
Personally I would go for 205/45/15 if I had wheels that wide again. But bear in mind that different makes and models of tyres can have different sizes within the ones written in them...there Is a link somewhere that gives more realistic measurement of tyres for each width/profile but I can't find it to link!

Cheers for that. The trouble really is deciding whether to go with a 45 and be undersize, or a 50 and be over.

For fitment reasons I would go 45
My 50 kept rubbing on bumps and round turns and I'm not really that low - Just the ride height you get as standard from MiesterRs

You have to get careful with offsets on 8J wheel/tyre combos. 949 Racing got it *perfect* with their 15x8 6uls - et36 - no issues at all on na/nb with standard or aftermarket coilovers, but the same cannot be said for rotas and other manufacturers. Personally I've had no issues with 8J and 195 width tyres - it's not too bad and looks better on some tyres than others. You may want to mess about with this - I've plugged in Corders 45/205 ratio vs the 50/195 ratio on 8J - it's not a significant difference. on not-on-the-floor ride height you'd be fine. You don't want to be driving over bumps anyway right ? www.willtheyfit.com/index.php?width=195&aspect=50&diameter=15&wheelwidth=7&offset=40&width2=205&aspect2=45&wheel_size=15&wheel_width=8&offset2=40

Cheers for the feedback guys. I've decided to go for 195/50 with the AD08R's... I'll let you know how that goes and if it was a good decision or not!

Also what 205 45 15 tyres were people expecting you to get?

Do they not do a T1R in that size?

I've just got the AD08Rs fitted, and while they have a little stretch, I'm pleased that they don't have a great deal as that wasn't really the look I was after. In some ways, I wider tyre would have been preferable from a contact patch point of view (especially when the V6 goes in), but given they are fairly sticky tyres I think it should be fine.
Its also the tyre size of the Rocketeer demo car, and that seems to do OK so I'm hoping all is well.

They were better than most that was around at the time. Tyre tech moves on though- I would’ve never had thought I would be beating people on R888s with a set of Kumho V70As, in fact they’re so good that the MSA have effectively banned them from road use A couple of weeks ago I was beating very expensive cars through the corners on my Rainsports.

Where do you race? In what comp?
