Today I got rid of the jubilee clips between the turbo & throttle body, replaced with mikalor clips. Took a bit of jiggling about but the end result is i think, touch wood, ive got rid of most of the boost leaks.
Took the car out for an essential journey & tried a few standing starts- I’m notoriously crap at them. The 1st one was no different with wheel spin & hitting the limiter in 1st- 4.9 secs, with a couple of practices i got it down to 4.6. Pretty surprising in a good way.
Can’t wait to get out on track in April.

That's great news Howard and some serious 0-60Mph times. Can you reach 60Mph in second without bouncy off the limiter or the power curve?
Regards. Rich.

Hi thruxton It was just the 1 gear change; doesn’t feel like there’s any drop off in power in 2nd as the power curve is pretty flat past the 6500rpm. I’m on a 5speed & 4.1 CWP so just over 62 at 7200rpm if I need to hang onto the gear.

Ah, that is good news. In that case I will not bother with the 3.6:1.
I've saved money, about bloody time!

thruxton it’s a 4.1 Torsen LSD on the back of a 5 speed (but will be changing to a 6 speed I think). Am running R888R 195/50R15, they’re pretty grippy but a bit noisy.

Why change the box Howard? Have you broken it already? The ratios don't look very exciting in the 6 speed and you've got the torque to spin the 5 speed. So if it's not broken what's the advantage?

The box is getting slightly noisy already in the higher gears when the turbo spools. Will do a preventative oil change & chuck some additives in to see if that helps. 🤞🏻 Like the look of the 6 speed box with the 3.3-1 CWP🙂

The ratios don't look very exciting in the 6 speed First gear is a bit low but 2-6 are nice & close. you want to play @ 175mph Rich.

If you fry the tyres at the start of hill climb and sprint it's all over. The 6 speed looks like a bad choice concidering the torque there. So long as the torque doesn't smash the box. Which it will not because the rods will let go first.
Close gears of the wrong ratio don't help here.

Well it will be a very relaxing trip to and from the sprints Howard with that gearing. And I'm thinking that you would probably only need the first three gears for the event?
I've not run the numbers so what is third at 7000Rpm?
And I know your going forged so you can wind the torque through the roof to overcome the gearing.
When is your next event?
Regards. Rich.

My best guess that the slowest is Prescott which is into 3rd gear a couple of times. The rest of the hillclimbs are into 4th. The slowest sprint that I do is Curborogh & think it’ll be up to 4th
7000 in 3rd is roughly 83mph.
Abingdon is my first one this season, followed by hopefully Gurston & possibly Wiscombe.
