Thanks Howard. I absolutely love it! It's mad.
The house is keeping me 'skint' 😳 But it is a lot further on now and will be finished this year.
I'm still undecided on the project and I'm so looking forward to seeing your build on the rollers. I'm intrigued to see where it will make power to. Hopefully to the red. I'm so tempted to meet you there if that is allowed?
Please keep posting with your project.
All the best. Rich.

thruxton it’s a real shame as it would be good to see you, however pretty sure under the current rules, it’s a no go to come down.

Got on the rollers today to get the ECU remapped by Dan at Rapid Performance which is the garage service part of BlackCat Motorsport. Dan certainly knows his stuff & really helped to solve a couple of issues. Because my forged rods are still sat in a box in the garage, the torque is the limiting factor so for reliability 230hp & 225lbft torque was decided on for safety. The difference to the SC power delivery is immense, the mid range is pretty startling.

Do you have a power graph from the SC build to compare with? (Sorry if it's somewhere earlier in this thread....)
Lots of torque from 3k rpm should make it very driveable!

Looks really good numbers, would be keen to hear your comparison between the two.

Great numbers!!!! That torque may be a bit much for the engine if it isn't forged.

atlex You’re right, it’s very close to what the rods will take reliably. One of the early runs was 330lbft & I was convinced that something was going to go, luckily it didn’t. Dan took a lot of fuel & advance out to make it safe. It’s good to know that the potential is there though. scottydugg The driving experience is completely different to the SC, the mid range turbo punch is spectacular compared to the SC. It’ll be great for getting out of slow tight corners/hairpins but I will have to practice how to get it off the line. Below 3000 rpm there is significant lag which is to be expected, but above that, it’s negligible. Also it want’s to rev out quicker past 6000rpm where the SC was feeling slightly like it was running out of puff. Looking forward to some warm & dry roads.

Hi Howard. When you re-map it the slow spool will be a bit quicker I think.
It's too late now but ... the Kraken underhung turbo manifold will increase spool speed and coupled to a 3" system will further improve it. If anyone is thinking of going this route.
It's still a very very good result from a massaged TD though. It has to be the EFR for fastest spool and longest delivery.
Regards. Rich.

Curious what spec TDO4 you've fitted Howard :-)

Zed.. Funnily enough was thinking about/looking at 6 speed boxes this morning.... thruxton am happy with the spool at the moment as I need to learn how to drive it again... also the G19 manifold + down pipe is good VFM in my view & works with my existing mid pipe + back box. atlex it’s a 13T. I don’t know how it produced that torque figure as they’re not meant to be that good. But if you look along the line of ‘test5’ it put out 258hp / 407nm (299 lb ft - I got the conversion wrong earlier)the only difference I can see is the ‘slew’ factor is 51.4 as opposed to 51.1 whatever that means. Big pinch of salt with figures anyway as RRs seem to differ massively.

Zed.. Luckily I’ve got 1 used & 1 new set of R888Rs. Restraint is required in the wet & standing water isn’t great, but in the dry they’re brilliant.
