Thought I’d better fit a turbo blanket. The surface of the bonnet was almost too hot to touch.

Hmmm. Was out in the Mazzer & turned the wipers on- only 1/2 sweep then stopped. Jiggled the switch & then they parked ok. Got home & tried them- they worked ok ish. Popped the bonnet- had a poke about & found in the linkage box my silver Stanley knife that had been missing for about a month......🤬

As a start to every Sprint/Hillclimb season, the championship I’ve entered like a rolling road printout. It is always done at Northampton Motorsport. The car was previously run there when it was supercharged & I thought it might be interesting to compare the 2 types of forced induction.

Had my first outing at Aintree a couple of weeks ago & was really pleased with the result: Came 2nd behind a Komotec Exige Cup. A few observations- The car is much more economical on a long run than I expected. With the SC In was getting about 25mpg, now it seems to work out at nearly 34mpg. Consequently I got to the track with far too much fuel. The turbo spin up didn’t affect me at all & I even managed to get off the start line pretty consistently. What I did notice though was that my tyres had gone a little hard for sprinting as they have to work from cold. After doing a bit of research, I’ve decided to try the Yokohama A052. It’s got impressive wet grip rating which is significantly higher than the R888R. I bought a set of 205/50R15s from Adams & Page in High Wycombe for a good price. This weekend will be a good test as it going to be chucking it down at Goodwood...

Nice tyres! Shame the A052's are so expensive though as they do get a good write up from everyone. Will be interested to see how you get on with them... I'll stick to your rejected R88R's for now

I'll stick to your rejected R88R's for now Ha Ha, hope they’re still giving you good service mrwallace 😁 Have just been for a quick cross country drive & they’re better than the good old Toyos even at road speeds. Comparing the specs of the tyres, the Toyo seems to need to be 70C for optimum temperature but the Yoko seems to be 40C. edit- going to keep the R888Rs for trackdays as after a few laps they’re as good as any tyre.

They're no even mounted yet! First event up here is the end of this month so will get some action then.
That sounds good, all the competitors in the SLS (Knockhill's time attack) use them and as you mention say they're good dry or wet too.

Saturday’s Goodwood sprint went really well, especially when the track was wet- I was 3rd overall behind a Dallara single seater & a 4x4 Sierra. The only slight (ok major) issue was that the brakes were a massive problem. It was pulling to the left ridiculously under heavy braking & occasionally locking the NSF. When I’d previously changed the pads the day before, I’d turned a blind eye to the OSF 1/3 missing caliper seal & corroded piston.....🤔 So, I debated fitting a new set of seals & decided after a call to Autolink, a recon caliper was the way forward... Easy to do & done in less than an hour.

I am amazed that you chose to ignore the state of that calliper.
