Be careful, one of my club mates managed to fry two superchargers due to the bypass, don't recall issues but it was an expensive journey for him. ? Don’t quite see how that would effect our SC as it’s evening out the coolant flow through the engine block & head + not letting the rearmost cylinders get hot. The bypass is working well having tested various points all over the engine bay using my laser thermometer, only issue is am getting a very slight drip from the front blanking plate so going to refit both front & rear joints with gaskets. Thanks for the heads up though & am definitely keeping a close eye on it until I have grown confidence in it.

I don't quite understand it either, I'll see if I can point him this way to highlight his errors

I got it all wrong, you are on about coolant bypass of course and not the SC bypass. Bah, idiot.

Great result Howard, nice to meet you in person too! Hopefully not too much longer until I'm back at Gurston competing!

I can’t wait to get down to spectate this year. There should be a Mighty5s team... Just like a Japanese drifting team As for the car, as a rule I don’t like NBs but this one is cool!

It’s a 1 lap Sprint. You can definitely come & watch but I’m not sure if it’s free. It is free to go to the cafe though 😉

I won my class out of 21 competitors. Quickest time was in the 99s.

Well, Anglesey was a total disappointment. For the first time ever I’ve had to pull out of an event (& a flipping 2 day one too!). It all started driving up Friday lunchtime, got to within 10 miles of the track & the car broke down. Was cruising along the A55 & all of a sudden it felt like the ignition was turned off & the battery light came on, I dipped the clutch & when the revs dropped the car seemed to go back to normal. Then the thing died completely & was able to coast into a lay by. The AA were completely prarrie canoe too. It took 2 vans to diagnose absolutely nothing over 31/2 hours. Luckily my wife was about an hour behind me so I got her to collect an alternator that I’d ordered on eurcarparts in Abergele...... But, now the car had completely cooled & was able to get 2500rpm before the cutting out/misfire/rev limiter effect. So I got the AA to follow me to where I was staying just in case I broke down again. Went out for dinner at an amazing beachside cafe & drowned my sorrows.... Up early in the morning to have a look at the car & it revs to 7000rpm! Great, off to the track we go then. Car feels fine..... Off the start line for P1 & 1st gear stops at 2500! the rest of the gear too. Canoeing Canoe Spheres. Back into the paddock & it’s alternator swap time..... what an awkward piece of crap this is! The bolt fits the wrong way so all the crap from the road goes straight into the captive thread; perfect for corrosion. Virtually everyone on my side of the paddock has a go at getting this bloody bolt out. We end up cutting the captive thread off & then it’s a 15minute job to swap over. Start the car & guess what? ITS STILL THE SAME! Lots of head scratching, I change the plugs but that makes no difference. Check all the plugs/contrasts I can see on the loom but no change. By this time I’d run out of options & had to retire. Gutted. The 200 mile drive home was long & dull at 55mph.... I overtook 2 cars & 3 lorries in 41/2 hours. Spoken to a friend with a SC MX5 & he had a very similar misfire problem about a month ago- he thinks it’s the cam sensor or crank sensor that’s failed. We shall see what happens when they’re replaced..

Real shame Howard, I was looking forward to battling with you, hope it is not too much trouble and you get it sorted.

Sorry to hear it Howard. You're not the only Mx5 to break down this weekend. Mine only just fired up for timed 2 at shelsley, then I spluttered to a halt on the M5 the A4117 and the A34 on the way home.
I had (I believe) an air lock in the coolant system - i burped out some air from the system each stop and itgot me going. Did a full burp of the system today and it seems fingers crossed to be behaving its self. Hope you find out whats up and sort yours soon.

So, cam sensor & crank sensors both replaced- that seems to have done the trick. Went for a 50 mile blast in the heat to test it out & didn’t miss a beat. Also fitted one of Toby’s quick shift gear levers which makes the gearbox feel much tighter.
