Today I took the test fit engine out and started to get the parts assembled for the build. First up - the inlet manifold.

Deburr with pointy thing. I used a hand flaring tool to flare the end of the pipe. It's a clever bit of kit that forms the flare and burnishes the metal at the same time. It was a struggle with the 1/2 pipe though. Now I need to wait for some more tube to be delivered so I can finish the second bottle.

Unfortunately, as I tightened the last injector I stripped a thread. Bollox! No major disaster, just another PIA. For those who don't know how to chemically replace a thread - here goes..... That is awesome - I didn't even know that was possible. I thought one had to go to a garage and get it 'helicoiled' or whatever the term is!

Once it sets properly it's harder than aluminium. You couldn't use it on a spark plug hole, but i've used it on a motorbike crankcase and it's still going strong.

Amazing job. Are those titanium bolts for the momo race ? I have one of those wheels laying about.. Yep. Polished titanium to tie the wheel in with the gear knob and the switch panel in the tombstone.

You're making some nice bits, but I just can't wrap my head around the n2o - 2560 combo. A small, quickly spooling turbo doesn't need the support, and will make exhaust temps crazy if pushing n2o up top for long.
Now, if it would have been a 3076

A small, quickly spooling turbo doesn't need the support, and will make exhaust temps crazy if pushing n2o up top for long. Now, if it would have been a 3076 I completely agree. I don't intend to run the 2560 for long. I wanted to sort the rest of the drivetrain out before upsizing the turbo. The problem is I don't particularly like the Tailgate McNoIndicate ZF box, the Quaife sequential is too expensive and needs too much attention for a daily car and Tremec T5 is a bit 'clunky'. I have an FD transmission and an FC diff, but I'm a long way from getting it all to work properly and I want the car on the road by the spring. Currently driving a Honda Jazz and a little piece of me dies every time I drive it.

Yeah, transmissions are the thing. I built around that, or the fact that it explodes with too much power. Hopefully, it stays together, and I don't need more power than I have. But to know that the trans can take it would make the need for a car trailer less.
