That LFX is a bargain considering what he must have put into it. Not to mention the time! I wonder what his next project will be?
Personally I am tempted by going more extreme with a V8 in something else. Although lardy mass and costs is a huge factor. So I think I'd actually try the opposite end of the spectrum by going hyper lightweight (7 or something). If I move on in the future. See what occurs. For now this is a lot of fun and a great all rounder: Quick, daft entertaining sound track, water tight (unlike a 7), carry a full sized spare wheel and shopping, nice and compact for country lanes, yet can go over bumps, cool retro looks etc. Options which tick all these boxes are very hard to find.
ps
Zed... "Smeg!" - I didn't think of that connection

My spare engine is now home and nestled into a space. Upgraded clutch pressure plate now ordered.
Upgraded engine thermostat and spare ordered: STANT 46337.
Awaiting new injector rubber seals. Shot in the dark but may be the idle air leak. Worth a go before anything else. Back to the waiting game for imports...

I made a magnetic satnav / phone holder from some pieces of aluminium. It can rotate down out of the way of the dials when not in use. Although I prefer it vertical all the time. A large screen Garmin covers the lower half of the dials when in use. A smaller phone sits just under the dials if the arm lowered to 90 degrees.

Idle all fixed! Woooooo! One of the many screws which hold the Holley plenum onto the adaptor plate had vibrated loose and fell into the bay below. Also the paper gasket for the Holley had crushed down due to the pressure over the bedding in time, thus allowing the screw/s to loosen off. All back together with thread lock. Apparently just putting a finger over the screw hole diagnosed and sorted the idle issue there and then. Clutch also done. Car should be finished later today. YAY & WOO - GO HYBRID!

The car is back home after all the work.
It took a while to get used to the firmer clutch. Kinda matches the manual steering now. No slip with harder launches now.
The idle is much quieter. It sits rock solid at just under 1000 which is far more sane. Although the midrange over run grumbles and pops are far more restrained too. Sometimes that is good, although sometimes it's less fun / manic. Most people would likely see this as a benefit I guess.
So it's all good under the hood.
