"So that's the interior done now" - famous last words written above, this is an MX-5/Eunos... they are never done! So onwards with the next little modification/addition, i've been on and off after some JDM teardrop speaker covers for a while and if any came up, i'd probably grab them. For ages on eBay, someone was selling just one and that was it! Great! But the other week a new listing popped up for a pair so i grabbed them. There is some minor scuffs and light markings on them but they ARE circa 25 years old and used so it's ok. Only issues i could see; 1) The specific countersunk screws for the covers were not included 2) My car doesn't have the doorcards to easily fit these/didn't have them from the factory This didn't stop me! So, here they are from the listing and then what I was working with; As tempting as it was to buy some random screws, i went looking for the genuine OEM ones - in all of the internet it was only Autolink that had some for sale, 8 in total at £2.50 each!! Annoying as I needed 10, but bought them anyway. These have the blade type edge of the thread; I also bought some replacement OEM clips from MX5 Parts fully expecting most of mine to be broken or old, i only bought 16 in the hope I could save a few quid and keep at least some of the originals - i think it's 13 PER DOOR! Door cards off; The point of no return, measuring, checking, checking again and then putting the holes in my existing door cards; ..... and then all done and sorted, this actually came together really well and despite not having the arm rests and tweeters you'd normally see with these covers, i think it almost looks like they could have been there from the factory! Hopefully i'll be able to source another two screws at a later date but they are on there solid as a rock and i'll never take them off again so doesn't matter the doorcards now have little holes in them.

I've had a custom badge made up for the back of the car, not sure if it will stay long term but for now I quite like it. My car is an S-Package Eunos so i thought it would be nice to have something to show this. After a few messages back and fourth, I managed to get the size and font just about right for what I wanted and i sent a photo of the chequer pattern on the corner of the JDM S-Special mats to go on there as well. Little touches!

Nice touch. Who made the badges up for you? Regards. Rich. It was just an eBay seller believe it or not! They were advertising custom domed badges in custom sizes on there so just sent a message over with what I wanted and it went from there. Had to change a couple things here and there and then i was happy. It was only like 8 quid or something too, can't say fairer than that!

In true MX-5 style i noticed last week when putting some shopping in the boot that I had a damp carpet and mini paddling pool in my spare wheel. Lovely stuff! We've had sooo much rain here lately that despite being under our car port, it still has got soaked on many occasions in the the last three weeks. Anyway, dried it all out with the hair dryer etc, plus gave the grubby old tool roll a wash (they were in the wheel well and soaked - excuse for a clean!) and it's not been too bad since, i did buy a double ended brush off eBay to clean out the drain holes. I saw a Youtube video where someone said this was a trombone cleaner and thought nahhh.... sure enough, mine turned up and despite being sold as an MX-5 part, the invoice was from a music shop Anyway, hacksawed one end off and cleaned out the channels which despite looking pretty good, was still well worth doing! So this will be something to keep an eye on as my mohair roof is all good and doesn't let in water.

The dreaded wet boot, my first mx5 had a completely rotten boot floor, it was what eventually killed the car, so always good to check it 👍

Ouch, yeah not good is it, i've had a look under the carpet and luckily my boot floor looks pretty decent, in fact it wasn't actually that wet at all, just a bit damp - it was just the carpet, like it had been coming down from above (hence the wet spare wheel) but defo keeping an eye on it. There WAS all that damp in the boot (underside of boot lid) when i first bought the car so may have been an on going issue but all last winter i had it in my garage so wasn't a problem. Gotta' love old cars

I've just added about 10 bhp to the car by adding this; . . . . . . Obviously i'm joking about the bhp, but for a fiver i actually think it looks cool. I just needed 'something' else red due to the rather in your face cam cover and this will do nicely! It got me thinking though, in a couple of weeks it will be a year since I bought the car. How life has changed for us all in that time! That said, I think only me and my wallet can truly know all what's been done to this car in the last year, whether it be new parts, labour paid at the garage for fitting new parts or just my elbow grease with cleaning and tinkering on the drive, but even though i've had a lot of cars, this is the car i've done the most too myself. I do really like the relative simplicity of it and love that I can get stuck in with little jobs myself - if i break something, it won't cost the earth to replace October 2019; October 2020;

Will update the thread properly soon, but been doing some little jobs today........ BUT...... (isn't there always a BUT? ) trying to fit the new black Delrin door bushings i bought from batou recommendation on his thread, i assumed this would probably be the easiest job on the car. FAIL! The screws holding my soft standard bushes in are stuck solid. Have soaked them in WD40, given it the big arm with different size screw drivers, all the usual..... but all i'm doing to starting to mess the screw head up so stopped. Any ideas for an easy fix? LOL! *Not to self..... never say a job is quick and easy!* EDIT: Worked out how to tag someone

Dynamite it may come to that............ To be fair though, butchering the old one to gain access isn't a bad idea i'd not though of as they are pretty soft and won't need them!

LOL! *Not to self..... never say a job is quick and easy!* Get yourself an impact driver screwdriver, one of THE best tools I've ever bought. I picked up a halford pro one when I needed to get the subaru mirror gussets off, they were stuck on proper, this is what they look like... Impact by batousan, on Flickr
