Ah, the engine... is the term “mill” an Americanism?

Now things have eased a little, i've started putting some decent miles on the car now we are out and about a bit more so no major updates other than driving it and cleaning it....... but, noticed a couple of weeks ago my original Eunos badged key had a small hair line crack in it. Brilliant! Could have been there years, or could have been there months, but once you see that, all you can see is it snapping in the ignition! So went on the hunt for a replacement and managed to get the below, dispatched direct from Japan (only took 10 days from order to doormat); It's the valet key as far as i'm aware, but i didn't get one with my car as was missing but thought the part number might be useful for someone one day........ after a pain the rear with Timpson's, where my local branch said he couldn't cut a car key - even though car key blanks were hanging on the wall ..... I eventually got it cut at the next Timpson's branch about 10 miles away where the guy referred to the other guy as useless lol! Anyway, all done......... Got this photo the other evening, bit grainy, but hey - i like it anyway!

The car is visiting the local trusted garage tomorrow, been having some issues with the clutch the last few days. When in heavy traffic, the top half of the clutch pedal goes 'floppy' meaning i only have half the pedal travel to change gear, but also, when crawling along at slow speeds in heavy traffic on Tuesday it even dipped the revs a couple of times and I couldn't get it out of gear. Pumping the pedal a few times got it free again and back in gear to move forward, but it's a bit bum clinching thinking it's going to cut out/clutch go in traffic....... when rolling, it's fine (as not using the pedal of course) and otherwise the clutch still engages.
I've ordered a brand new 'genuine' slave cylinder from MX5 Parts that they will be fitted and hoping that's what it is, if not, the slave will go on anyway and we'll see. It's just because the pedal comes back a bit when pumped, i've got my fingers crossed. We shall see!

I just love the contrasts in that photo. Fresh powdercoat along side ultra shiney shiney along side.. vintage rubber and 'patina' cough corrosion. I've got the same paint 'crisped up' look on my white car under the BMC. Heaven knows what it's like underneath.

So true this is a good mix of what i got when i bought the car, and how it's going........ slowly....... tidying things up as and where I can lol!
