So... Having not opened the boot for, er, a while... and having had the rain combined with a boot that seems to leak like a sieve it appears that turning the key in the boot lock now no longer actually opens the boot. The lock does turn perhaps 75-80 degrees so I am not sure if it's the lock getting stuck or the actual catch mechanism - but I don't fancy snapping the key off in it by trying more force! lol I can't open it from inside the car. I appreciate this is a 'how do I break into my boot' thread... but any advice on gaining access (by PM, perhaps) would be much appreciated!!

Before you resort to any “troglodyte” methods....😜 Try squirting a bit of oil or wd40 and see if anything frees up, then buy a hammer. Why can’t you use the lever in the car?

lock deicers has helped for me, sometimes. can shift some grit that gets in. Need something with decent pressure.

that said I've got a boot lock that won't even work after that. suspect something else is up.

I have no lever! lol I've tried pushing down on and then lifting up the boot lid while attempting to twist the key, but no luck! I'd rather not smash my way in through a rear light lol, but if needs must... I'm not entirely sure I'd know what to do once I was in anyway... lol Will get some lock grease stuff, I think, and go from there! Perhaps just some of that oil that came in a small tin with a plastic cone spout??

Why can’t you use the lever in the car? I have no lever! only fitted after sometime in 1991 I believe easily retrofitted though...... once you can get in the boot to swap the lock mecanism for a later item and run the extra cable...... and swap the lever mecanism for the twin type.... and (on some earlier cars) trim the body's mount for the extra lever to fit - 30 seconds with tinsnips..... Rich.

Try inserting the key partway in and then dribble the oil along the shank of the key using an oil can (not with your mouth) something three in one or the tube on wd40.
I thought all cars had an interior boot release, you live and learn...

Inspired by this thread, I thought I’d check my first Eunos, H341 LNA, which was written off in 2004 to see why year it was. To my surprise it’s MOT expired in 2018. December 91 BTW...

I need a good fix for this issue too. It started with the passenger door lock. It wouldn't unlock but also grabbed the key so I couldn't pull it out. Not good when you're 50 miles away from the spare key! Managed to wriggle it out after a while but much stress expecting it to break at any moment. Now the boot has joined in

Thanks for the replies, gents! I'm pretty sure I have some 3-in-1 somewhere so will try the key / dribbling trick. only fitted after sometime in 1991 I believe easily retrofitted though...... once you can get in the boot to swap the lock mecanism for a later item and run the extra cable...... and swap the lever mecanism for the twin type.... and (on some earlier cars) trim the body's mount for the extra lever to fit - 30 seconds with tinsnips..... Rich. This sounds like one of those 5-minute jobs... lol To ask a dumb question (again ) is the lock separate from the locking mechanism? I'm presuming so (and one can therefore replace just the mechanism and not need a new lock set or new key) because the lock is miles away from the boot-lid...

note to oneself: check the boot lock, clean, grease while still working, in fact check all locks ...

Have you gained entry to your boot yet? or is this going to become “cylinder head 2”?
