random bored Shitposting time, been playing with gearing calculators comparing different gearboxes (5 & 6 speed Mk1 & mk2) so thought I'd share.

4.3:1 diff.

4.1:1 diff.

3.9:1 diff.

3.6:1 diff.

can see the 5speed & 4.3:1 carries similar 1-5 gear speeds as a 6speed & 3.6:1 but the 6th gear works out as a motorway / overdrive / cruise gear.

added calculations for the 3.3:1 fd, using different tyre sizes (195, 205 & 215 x 50 x 15")

Fast enough? wonder how stale a 5 is @ 180mph

also, if you're a masochist....

this is the 4.778:1 (Kia Sportage front diff) gearspeeds.

adding a 5.38:1 ratio into the mix for ShItZ&giggles

looks like 4,000rpm is...

60mph

anyway, the calculator I've used is

zealautowerks.com/transcalc.php

an although it's a Honda biased webpage the ratio's & tyre sizes / engine speeds are user-defined so universal

Makes it a little difficult to compare the gear speeds but I guess if you're fitting a 5:38:1 you'd be mad enough to run over 8k rpm 😂

They are usually pretty damn good but suppliers obvs can let them down, I ordered erm, *cough*, another ECU that said ships in 5-10 working days... its been 4 and it got dispatched today so you get lucky sometimes
