Erm so wondering if anyone can suggest any way of tucking my exhaust a bit further up as I can't be the only one with this issue... I'm not even THAT low . After a recent trip to see a few friends and some antics up and around the fens upto Norfolk my exhaust caught a few times, I mean the roads it caught on were horrendous in all fairness (massive amounts of subsidence which required even normalish sports cars at standard height to drive down the centre of the road). The result was thankfully was just cosmetic.... (sorry for pic size too lazy to resize from phone). Theres also a ding in the silenced decat too. Anyway, its on standard rubbers but I've cinched the rear one up with a hose clamp but I'm looking underneath and I could probably get the system about an inch or more further up before it contacts the body work. I've thought about poly hangers but worry about the lack of movement causing future hanger breakages or cracking the system due to lack of flexibility so is there another option? Ie. get an exhaust centre to move/bend the hangers up. I've raised the rear dampers up 10mm which has helped a little, again I'm not even that low to be fair...

smaller rubber mounts? 'adjust' the mount bars (violence?) different exhaust as possibly different shape? get a bespoke system made? lift car slightly? I removed the Cobalt from my silver car (as I'm making a system) and that has 'battle damage'my car is about the same hight as yours... Rich.

Poly exhaust hangers will help a bit and have enough flex they won't cause cracking or breakage. It'll be left/right movement more than up and down so won't be too bad.
I have noticed though that some exhausts bend more than others. The mx5parts I took off my mk1 had much more bending in the mid pipe and the final bend into the silencer than either my Cybox or Mazdaspeed, this makes a huge difference to what stuff it comes near

I really want to raise my car up 10-20mm front and back to handle crappy roads better - I'm guessing that would require a re-alignment too?

If you make sure they are equally raised left to right it should be _ok_ :-)

Another thought is to put some exhaust wrap where it makes contact - just to protect the metal that matters.
I don't mean heat wrap, but the kind like 'FibreFix' where you wet it, wrap it, and it shrinks on - the kind meant to help with holes in exhausts.
If you wrap it back to front it should even not strip off if it strikes the ground again.

Another idea along similar lines as Atlex, would be to cut a length of exhaust pipe next diameter up, slice it in half so its a "U" section, and attach it with big hose clamps beneath the existing exhaust.
That will strengthen the pipe, and add a sacrificial layer for those really big scrapes and dings, and its easily replaced. And it won't reduce ground clearance any further.

Yeah I think the exhaust I have (mx5 parts) has quite a bend from the rear silencer and in the mid pipe which puts it quite low annoyingly, I don't really want to change it yet as I may get some hot boi exhaust at somepoint so the 5parts one was a cheap replacement when my stock one developed a hole so don't really want to pick something up in the interim. Exhaust/Diff Clearance - ユーノス ロードスタ S-SPECIAL NA6CE by batousan, on Flickr I was looking at bit of "percussive persuasion" to move the mounts but was just a little concerned about breakages really. So far I've raised just 10-15mm which has helped somewhat, I needed to anyway as I'm catching the frame rails which has created me some more winter work by undo'ing all last winters hard work lol. I think I'll probably look into some smaller poly mounts for now and the wrap is a great idea, really I'm just trying not to create a hole/flat spot not too fussed about the odd scrape, the pic I posted was quite a hit and flattened it just slightly.
