I am currently looking for another MK1, and scouring Car and Classic I came across this example, the reference number is C1480150. Read the description, I found it amusing, I was the owner of that same car in 2004 when the alleged "trolley incident" occurred.... It annoys me that the dealer says he saw the damage both before and after the repair. Draw your own conclusions.

Ahahahhaha apparently a child's pushchair did that. Sure. Sure sure.
I mean if the car has been repaired well then I don't see why you shouldn't at least give it a lookie.
But looks like it's been slathered in underseal so might be hiding something.

I've enquired about this, lets see how honest the reponses are before I decide on the next course of action...

I emailed dealer, he said he was “told” differently, he says in the add he saw the car when damaged and after repair?? Sounds dodgy to me

He’s changed the text, just says it was cat D after an accident. I used to look upon goodwood as one of the decent dealers, I now hold a jaundiced view.

Asked for pictures of the second cat D accident and mentioned HPI check, it’s not on car and Classic anymore.

I bought my current S-Special (sold as rust free and very clean, just shy of 5k paid) from Goodwood late last year (November) and refrained from talking about it anywhere but....
Car arrived ( had a full timing belt service the week before I got it 'apprently')
2 weeks after the car arrived, it snapped its cam belt
2 weeks after that the clutch and throwout bearing exploded
To be fair, he paid for a new timing belt service and payed a local garage direct for it, and gave me 250 towards a clutch
Car is now rusted through on all 4 corners though, which is fantastic.
I bought it unseen aside from a video and pictures and on the face he had a good name in the community, but alas.
