No further progress on Ronin unfortunately. I have managed to replace the main hydraulic pump on my DS this week though! Taking the front wing off provides both access. . . . . .and a modern art installation! Complicated bits of metalwork these wings! Anyway, managed not to c@ck the job up. You can see why you need to ensure that you've got good access though - that's the reconditioned exchange pump fitted (below the centrifugal regulator), in it's nice new green paint! Lots of bracketry to remove and three belts. It all went fine. No leaks 🥳 All back together. . . . . .and then I shut the bonnet, without reconnecting the bonnet release cable 🤦♂️ 🤣

Luckily the chaps at Citroën showed remarkable pre-cognitive abilities, anticipated my stupidity and installed a little hole in the catch casing which you can just reach with a very long thin screwdriver, inserted between bonnet and bumper, to release the catch!

I fucking love this car.
Please start it's own thread with a walk around and pictures of all the crazy French quirks.

Your post was remarkably well timed fella! Not much has happened unfortunately. I've been enjoying the DS all summer! I got told off by my wife for tuning Ronin on the drive yesterday though. I was trying to get him to start smoother, as it requires about 30 secs of cranking. He now dies immediately after he fires! Need to revert the tune to get him running as I'm taking him in this week to get the rear springs replaced, due to the broken offside rear. I'll then be giving him some more attention, as he needs to be pressed into service as my daily this winter (Alfa has to go). Great pic btw. Much better set up than I have been able to manage (Still not finished)!

Well, bad news received yesterday. Managed to get Ronin running and driveable again. No longer stalls through idle droop at every single roundabout and junction! Starting is still an issue though. Just can't seem to find the right cranking pulse/afterstart enrichment set-up. Took the car to Black Boots/Wheels in Motion at Chesham to get their advice on the suspension springs and was told the springs are JDM only Eibachs on Bilsteins (extremely rusty ones) and the suspension is pretty much shot all round (it is 30 years old, so it's paid it's dues). Replacement with Meister Sportiv coilovers is around £900 fitted, or Meister Zeta CRDs at around £1,100. If I'm going to have replace the suspension I probably wouldn't consider anything else, but the required funds are just not available. I can't be rear canoed doing the job myself to save £300 labour either as its just too much of a PITA over the winter and I have limited spare time with the kids athletics schedule (Freezing garage, bolts snapping, etc. No thanks). The unfortunate outcome is I will be sorn'ing Ronin again and tucking him away until next summer.

What have you tried for your startup woes? have you gone near cranking IACV duty yet?
Keep an eye out for some second hand suspension, I see quite a few MeisterR Sportives coming up for sale for 400ish, non adjustable dampening but maybe an option.

Had a play with the cranking IACV duty settings but didn't make much difference. Black Boots quoted £499 Inc VAT for brand new Sportives which was very reasonable tbh, but fitting and new ancillaries (All bolts will snap, or need to be cut off) bumps the price.

Fairly confident you could fit these at home. You don't need to take apart the old shocks. Just take your time with plenty of penetrating fluid ?

What's it doing when it's cranking? Are you getting backfires/cranking slowing down? Hyrdolocking during cranking? I made a lot of mistakes trying to get mine to go, is the only reason I'm trying to help
