Awesome. One of the best 'small car' hillclimbs in the country.

This is an excellent day out, great fun and well worth the money, same price as a track day but you get refreshments and a great lunch. Instructors and marshals are friendly, informative and helpful, and it's a good atmosphere You also get to do your runs on your own not having to worry about sharing with the track day heroes!! Highly recommended

Was a good day, I wouldn't do it again mind you. Once was enough. Very different to a track day, much more civilised, plenty of tea drinking and cake. Really well run day out, cracking lunch, didn't feel like there was too much sitting around. Highly recommended to anyone who's not done it before. Trying to get round the first corner without braking is a fun challenge, just doing it with a little lift was as far as I got, not flat out like I hoped.
Has definitely got me interested in having a more of a look into the costs of competing.

Just checked the gopro footage, best run seems to be just under 46 seconds, around 75mph through hollow and same accross the line, meh. I won't be winning anything with that.

I would like to have a go at the mx5 class just so i got some timed runs, see how i compare, Im not going to compete with the experienced guys but you are racing the clock and aiming for PBs

A lot of the guys competing in the Mx5 class started out about there but with more practice and the odd tweaks knock plenty of time off. The MX5 class record for a fairly standard Mk1 1.8 is 41.86, time comes from experience.

Just trying to get my head round what you can change. As I don't think you can remove trim, but the centre arm rest really gets in my way. And not sure about the seat, I've swapped to a bucket but it's fia expired, as is my harness. I think you can swap to coilovers, I don't think you can change arb's, and not sure if you can fit different spec bits to that original came fitted, lsd for example. And I run a gv lip, I'm guessing that's not allowed so would need to swap to oem. Then can I run a decat if my car should have a cat. The guide on Gurston seems simple, but when you start reading thru the blue book it gets confusing.

Yup, you are right but as far as I am concerned it's just my ECU that needs to back to standard ( and check my tyres) Exhaust is free so I don't think anyone is going to pick you up on a decat. I'm going to go up there on a competition day and talk to some mx5 competitors- I think it's all pretty friendly and as he pointed out it is self policing to some extent. One thing I am slightly confused about is the electrical safety switch - do we have to have one or is it just a case of a sign to show where the ignition key is and which way is off??
