Strange this, the talk was so much about how the younger generation should be more engaged with politics and have a strong voice. perhaps that is not the case unless they agree with us old'uns! BTW the war you are talking about (I think) was 70 years ago - that's over 2 generations, whilst they were brave people that fought and died and to who we all owe a debt hardly think the youth of today have to agree with everyone who was alive then. the youth of today could argue that we Canoeed the country up with our debts, a falsely inflated housing market, Thatcher, Blair, the gulf war, etc etc. perhaps we should be thanking them for not turning us into Soylent Green!!!

You know that scene on the titanic when the band is playing as the ship disintegrates underneath them? I will be interested to see how bad it gets whilst rousing speeches by the leave group continue to be made.
The bbc news website friday read something like, "stocks take major hit" "pound at lowest levels" "Scotland referendum likely"...... "Johnson - Britain's future is bright". Farage has already given the ammo out for the believers, "we were headed into a recession anyway".
Of course, depending on the deal, it might not be so bad after all. We've already taken a hit sure, but we could get a trade deal at similar rates, albeit with associated freedom of movement, and of course associated regulations, and that would be ok. We would have gained.... um well nothing of substance, but at least those wanting to return the 'power to the people' would have won. We'd have lost our seat at the table, and have no say in those regulations or freedom of movement arrangements that our prosperity depended on. Would feel a bit like being held hostage. But power to the people.
Anyway, as those leave votes keep telling me, we must all pull together and make this work. Because we are canoeed if we don't. Just be careful who you pull together with because it is now quite clear that it is okay to work with some, but not so much others.

Best thing I've seen all day.
IDS on the leave campaign promises/points on nhs, immigration etc -
“We never made any commitments. We just made a series of promises that were possibilities.”

Pure speculation here, but you know how there is no special deal for the uk, according to the man who decides these things. Well that seems to leaves us with a choice of basically full eu-ness without actually being a member, or a completely screwed economy. Assuming we go for the former, as almost any politician would (not the screwy ones), and on the basis that our being outside the schengen was a special concession....
Well does that mean we could stand to end up inside the schengen? All this immigrant bashing and the end result is less border control? It couldn't happen.... or could it?

I found this from elsewhere and borrowed it,
"Out of interest I did a little recky this morning, looking at "vote maps" and seeing how the results would have looked if the referendum had been take on seats/constituencies (like elections) rather than a head count. Leave would have had a landslide victory of over 2:1 Getting back to the present, rather than "what if's" Why are, even the EU parliament still banging on about remain and leave camps? It was almost a week ago, and we simply don't have remain and leave camps any longer, the campaigns are over. Any way our Thatcher Clone, Farage, spent 17 years campaigning so those that want to be in the EU can take a leaf out of his book and spend the next 17 years campaigning
ps. A little bit of realism - Have a mini inventory around your house and garden and you will find that more than 80% of your list has been manufactured and imported from outside of the EU including what you are looking at as you read this."

I really dont get how people can say the country has spoken clearly about its wishes with a 52/48 vote.
Its like that national equivalent of "Errrr, I dunno? Probably, maybe, sure go with that, ask me again next week"
