Hi Everyone!
I'm new here and I didn't come from MX5Nutz.
I want to share my experiences with owning my latest mx5. It is the third one actually.
BEFORE
I had mk1 1.6 as my first RWD car. Good upgrade from my pug 106 XSi.
Then I bought silver 1.8 mk2 and repainted it in lotus saffron yellow.
All the joys of more power and LSD >D
It should have been my ultimate slalom/autotest/autosolo/gymkhana car back in Lithuania, but I decided to move to UK and had to sold it. It was really sad to let it go after putting in all the work. (I sold it two months after I repainted it!). The good news is that my good friend takes care of it now.
NOW
So here I am, just bought myself another silver mx5.
But this time it is something special – it is Mazda Roadster RS
160hp, 7500RPM limit, big brakes, no ABS, 6 speeds, 6 o'clock dials, extra chassis bracing.
Maybe something even more that I’m not aware of.
CONDTION
It doesn’t have any rust (no rust repair also), and has only 100K KMs on the clock!
Technically it is sound, drives superbly.
Only minor issue - dent on the rear quarter.
As far as I know it has only one modification - Meister R coilovers.
And just recently I bought Rota RKR 15x8 et10 wheels to help with the looks.
THE DRIVE
I already tried it out in some autosolos and formulaG gymkhanas - it is amazing joy to drive this car on the limit!
The engine feels very responsive and sharp as a scalpel. It has quite a lot of torque from low RPM compared to mk2 1.8 and I love that 7500RPM redline, it reminds me of my old mk1 1.6 which loved to rev. So all in all - best combo so far!
PURPOSE AND PLANS
Car has a dent on rear quarter, so maybe I will sort it one day.
I bought it to use for autosolos/gymkhanas so for now I will enjoy the driving experience it provides and will participate in as many as I can!
I already took 1st place overall in Bristol clubman autosolo! I was even faster than stylus SSC and a few westfields. Very happy with it!
It would be nice to try some trackdays later on.
