I've only bothered to upload a video of the one test where the sump guard stayed attached, as the others are marred by the metallic clanging of it banging against everything as it hangs on by one bolt! |

I'd love to do a similar rally but I think a slightly lowered 4x4 would be far more sensible XD

Hi Folks
I filled the ITB Mongrel with fuel today
I have done a personnel best in the car
I actually managed to do 180 Miles on the previous tank full.
Thats a 50 mile range increase Whoopee !!!
Good job its only used as a fun car !
It is still a bit rich in some areas of the map though
My £750 Volvo V70 D5 will do 600 miles per tank full.
My CBR 600 does about 125 to 130 on a tank full.

I'd love to do a similar rally but I think a slightly lowered 4x4 would be far more sensible XD 2WD only on targas. They run under road rally regulations, though you wouldn't know it from some of the vehicles! |

Started getting bits off the engine to do the valve stem oil seals. There was a LOT of oil behind the timing covers, so will need to do the cam seals too.

Hi Folks,
On Sunday we took the Mongrel out and about in cornwall with the OC.
I stopped for fuel after a 30 mile drive to the start of the run,
went to top up with petrolonly to find the car refused to start with all the symptons of a dead battery, I plugged in the laptop to check the voltage which was showing just over 12.5 volts tried to crank and it dropped down to 7.2 volts on attempting cranking then back up to 12.5 volts when I stopped cranking.
Put a borrowed jump pack onto it and we got a start, Voltage with engine running showing 13.5 volts so the alternator is working.
As the car cranks and starts fine when its cold I think the starter motor is getting knackered with a very high hot resistance.
I will be fitting a MK2.5 starter motor this week to see if the problem goes away.
