Quite surprised it fitted in the end Impressed. Where to ? Not shipped, just stored. I have the container whilst I look for a flat with a garage Mazda is living in there while I spend the next month playing around in the containers normal resident ...

Cheers its been about 11 years in the making and I'm just starting to get it about where I want it. Only major job left is an engine (still running a standard 998). Wheel is a Mota-Lita rather than either of those above ... not sure where that lands in the hierarchy... Horne: Got it done on Friday with my redundancy money. I'm really chuffed with it , I've wanted a webasto for pretty much ever (as you know...). Having done that I couldnt just put him back in the container, hence the MX5s relegation to storage for a month or so.

My first track day of the year is in a couple of weeks so I took advantage of the crap Norfolk weather to check the brakes, change my wheels and generally get the car set for Blyton with the OC.

Drilled out my Sill drain holes to 3.2mm - only managed to break three drillbits doing two cars! Mazda suggest 8mm in their bulletin but that is way too large IMO www.miata.net/garage/tsb/s034_94.htmlThen I emptied out the last of my ACF50 into the sills. Woo. Also fitted a nice ILM gaiter, which I had to stretch a bit to get to go on.

Finally found the time to connect the various bits of exhaust I had ordered together; this cat has a 2 year guarantee and everything seems to fit fairly snuggly this time so hoping for no leaks, just a bit apprehensive as I haven't used any silicon, only crush gaskets. Turns out the slightly more expensive exhaust on ECP is the later model that is around 1" shorter in front of the front silencer with a different flange angle too, that one got taken back.
No new manifold this time- the old one still isn't knackered enough to justify the cost. Last day of my 10 day free retest is tomorrow but hopefully the chap can fit me in this afternoon!
Considered washing the thing in preparation for painting next time the weather warms up whilst I am waiting.

It bloomin failed on emissions again, it did. I should have probably changed the lamda sensor but it was giving plausible readings on the multimeter according to the Rod manual which I took to mean it was OK. Barometric pressure sensor is buggered on the ecu I thinkn according to the old flashing led test along with some codes which if correct, I can't even find a record of. I might need to make a video of my flashing led and ask for some help to interpret the codes!
Only other thing I can think of is leaking injector or something maybe? The oil starts smelling fuelly soon after a change recently which cant be good. Failing that I will swap the engine perhaps but for now I think I might need a 1.8 ecu or someone that likes fixing ecus.

Drove York -> Edinburgh. Cracking day. Awesome weather on a great road with lovely views - I can't believe you didn't get stuck behind anyone for all that time, that's the sort of road I get stuck behind some twat doing 43mph and continuous traffic coming the other way so I can't overtake, grrr... lol
