Did my first soldering since I was 14 to join my mk2 loom to a mk2.5 stereo plug, with great success and surprising neatness

Awesome weather on a great road with lovely views - I can't believe you didn't get stuck behind anyone for all that time, that's the sort of road I get stuck behind some twat doing 43mph and continuous traffic coming the other way so I can't overtake, grrr... lol Yeah, I got pretty lucky, especially for a Sunday! That was the first "big" trip I've done since fitting cams and a new timing belt. It was pleasing that nothing appears to be broken!

Nice, successful DIY is most satisfying I wish I had a garage with a wall of tools and a ramp or post lift!!

Finally sorted the base timing properly. Cleaned up the remnants of an oil leak - which I've hopefully sorted...

Fitted the jass shifter boot and il motorsport leather shift gaiter. Fitted the jass hazard/popup toggles. Took a brush and some ACF50 to my sills too.
Managed to cause my handbrake light to stick on even when the brake is off.. Will take a look at how/why I've done that now soon - it is not the brake fluid level.
bumped into two more cars/drivers - singlering off nutz/ph who chatted with me for nearly 20 minutes and also spotted another white mk1 just south of me in a white car.

I was looking at why the handbrake light was stuck on. That's sorted now. Bad earth because I am an idiot with bolts, now nicely insulated. At the same time as fixing the light/sensor I managed to pop the handbrake button rod/bolt down the sheet metal of the handbrake lever body. Took two hours to sort that out what an annoying job that is.

Drove it. Had my mate in his Tailgate McNoIndicate with 4 friends (girls) in the car shouting at him for trying to keep up with me on the country roads. Made me lol when we stopped. Apparently they were pissed at me for setting the pace. How was I supposed to know one of the gfs had a accident as a tween and scared of cars?

Had my first drive since May yesterday, well needed. Spent today making up a Nakamae/M2 style centre console from some old carpet. Needs some edging and a blanking plate making then it'll be good to go in. Picking up new wheels tomorrow, so not a bad few days
