Replaced the diff after work. Started at 5, finished at 1am. I canoeing hate that canoeing washer that holds the canoeing diff spacer to the canoeing ppf. The whole canoe thing turns this otherwise angry post into an entertain post about an avid canoe enthusiast.

Haha! I saw a van the other day that had a "British Canoers Club" sticker on it. Barely suppressed a chuckle.

Drove over to Bracknell to meet some fellow 5'ers. Nearly ran out of fuel on the way home because of two major diversions and a road closure due to an accident. Just to ask the question, does it 'cough' for a bit when low on fuel? Or just cut out and stop? With no petrol light I fairly regularly run mine well below the 'E' - by my calculations (by filling up when under the 'E' and only being about to squeeze about 9 gallons in at the very most even when brimming it, and assuming a fairly standard 10 gallon / 45 litre tank size), I must have a good gallon or two left under the 'E', so about 30-60 miles emergency buffer, although I am living it far too often... lol

It's only actually run out on me once. It coughed and then cut out completely less that half a mile I'll later. When I was doing 70mph! I had replaced my gauge faces and not realigned the fuel needle correctly. Thought I had half a tank lol

Stripped the dash out, cut it in half, threw the heater and matrix away. Rerouted the heater pipes, stripped the loom and repainted the interior. Tomorrows job is to remove the headlights, install a cold air feed and vent the headlight cover, fit bonnet and boot pins, bond a ducktail spoiler to the boot and generally ruin it more. (My car is a trailer queen / track only by the way)

That's a super clean interior metalwork.

Couple of paint runs when you get up close (I'm notoriously impatient and went at it like a bull in a china shop) but with just the loom to tidy up under the dash and the seat / steering wheel to go back in, I'm really chuffed at the outcome.
Thankfully I currently only sit in there once a month for sprint days if that - so being white shouldn't be too much of a problem keeping clean. Haha

Wondering how to dim down these green LEDs. Does anyone sell 194 bulb condoms that reduce the light output ?
Does it make more sense to get white LEDs and then put on green condoms ? total light output is reduced then.. might be dimmer than a pure green LED ?

Spent the day trying to work out why my aftermarket passenger door central locking wasn't working.
Disconnected the cables and connected the actuator directly to a the spare/Spitfire battery, works fine. wtf?
so I get out my testers and test the voltage. nada. nothing. bloody cables are cheap as prarrie canoe and the copper that was crimped onto they provided connectors (actuators > control box) just pulled away when trying to put new connectors on. cables basically rotted away in the door and didn't connect anymore.
So I cut the cable back quite far. and with a stanley blade (cause you couldn't do it the normal way with cable strippers). now it's working, but no idea for how long.

Over the last week or two my idle rpm has been creeping up and reached the dizzy heights of 2k rpm this weekend. Guess who looks like a knob at traffic lights... So today I started with the usual suspects, vacuum hoses. Couldn't find a leak anywhere. Tried all the other hoses. Not a sausage. Took off the idle control valve hose and blocked it - normal idle again. So I've ordered a throttle body and idle valve off eBay and will try to swap it over when I get an opportunity. Should be fun...
