Hi.
Fizbne here.
After a long time deliberating and waiting, and, being impatient / stubborn / lazy / delete as appropriate. I ARE BACK.
It's a bit prarrie canoety, but it has potential.
The bonnet is, well, it has 3L silver problems. Along with the windscreen surround. Plenty of scratches around the car, I think they're just in the clear coat though so can be worked on! Silver lining, is that the car had LOADS of really tasteful mods, all done in the right places. If you look at it, the car looks pretty much standard so while it doesn't feel like my own car just yet, I still have time to make it mine and add nice shiny tasty fun time wow parts to it.
Sun burn or what gosh.
So. Good and bad. Let's start with bad first.
BAD
I THINK that's all the bad stuff out the way, so I'll get on the bits that make up for all the shoddy bits of the car.
Starting from the ground up
GOOD BITS
So, going by the spec list, it's pretty damn good and this is the reason why I was pretty headstrong on this Roadster in the first place. The only thing being the major holdback is the rust. My aim is to save more money, so with all the "main" mods done, and the extra nice stuff, I have room to play around with selling stuff, buying things and not eat in to my own money, sooo, bonus!
The thing that's kinda really bummed me out about the car is definitely the rust. It was meant to have no rust, and I've seen and driven the car before and it felt real good. It was only when I had a proper poke the next time I saw the car that this came to light. I feel kinda dumb for taking it, but, lesson #358 learned - Be more patient, always check things twice, learn to be Zen AF. The seller of mine is a friend, and wouldn't sell me a rust-bucket knowingly I know this much, so I'm not bitter about that or anything. Just a bit gutted I guess.
Anyways, because of that, I haven't really "gelled" with the car. I guess I just need to make sure everything is solid and then start to make it my own. Remove some stuff, add some stuff, you get it.
Anyways, I'll take more pics when I go on break and slam them up on the thread.
So yer.

So. Good and bad. Let's start with bad first.
BAD
- Sills are Canoeed - Hoping it's only the outers, and from inspecting the passenger side, it seems that way. Only one way to tell and that's to bring out Mr. Grindy. Mr. Angle Grindy. I really hate rust.
- The paint is crap. But, that's what I get for having a thing for silver cars. What, I like silver >_> Don't ask...
- When steering slightly left, the wheel requires a tiny bit of effort to return to centre. Ball joints were done, apparently, but remembering how my old Landcruiser steered, and how it felt after changing the ball joints, it feels similar. So I think I'll invest in some MOOG ball joints and replace them anyways. Alignment is out, so it also kinda pulls to the left. In fact, that might be the reason for it being somewhat difficult to re-centre. Alignment is necessary.
- It's a bit low - I'm old, decrepit, and I really don't like lows.
- There's more camber in the rear than a fatty from Crawley wearing uggs sideways - Alignment needed.
- One of the spare Track Wheels with R888's has a puncture. I need to ficks.
- Incomplete MK2 dash conversion. Again, I despise the MK2 dash mod. It's dumb. Like, where's the tombstone, and the "crash pad" for smashing your passengers face when you have a date with the lamp-post. I can't even stick super fun stickers on the crash pad BECAUSE THERE CanoeING ISN'T ONE AEHRJRJHHRJGARGRGHRGH.
- Because of incomplete MK2 dash mod, there's no radio for Heavy Metal / J-Pop / Gangsta Rap - but that's okay. there's also a nice hole where the cubby hole used to be.
- There's rattles.
- One of the vents is missing. The other has a broken SMITH'S Oil Temp gauge which is probably beyond feasible repair. We'll see.
- The passenger side soft-top clip doesn't clip. Fuuuuuuuuuuucking heck.
- The number plate is SCREWED IN TO A RATHER CLEAN FRONT BUMPER SO NOW I NEED TO LIKE PUT A STICKER ON THE HOLE OR SOMETHING GOSH.
- Front passenger wing has a considerable ding on it.
- The fuel flap. It's not flappy at all. Needs to be pushed up with force. Urgh.
- Stupid STUPID Metal plate pedals.
- MK2 dash conversion.
- Okay I guess there's more holes to like put stuff for glory storage in a MK2 dash, but like. Srsly. No.
- The instrument cowl has holes from a makeshift shift light type thing. This is somewhat distracting.
- Cigarette lighter is in the glovebox. The cigarette lighter hole has a start button. That's not wired in. -siiiiiiiiiiigh-
- I forgot where I put my mobile phone windscreen holder.
- Does anyone know where it is? Ffs.
- Slight leak from gearbox tailshaft seal, but I have an OEM repalcement.
- The boot is a bit of a mess really - no spare wheel, the carpet has seen better days, the jack is non existent, and the metal plate thing that covers the fuel fillers is not bolted on at all.
- Carpet could really do with some tidying.
I THINK that's all the bad stuff out the way, so I'll get on the bits that make up for all the shoddy bits of the car.
Starting from the ground up
GOOD BITS
- Meister R Coilovers - Was told they're CRD's but they're most likely ZETA-S either way, they're Meister's and rather good.
- Racing Beat adjustable droplinks
- Jackson racing Adjustable ARAB'S
- Boss frog Chassis Frame rails
- VLSD that still kinda works - I discovered this on a small rounabouty last night hohoho
- New clutch, flywheel bearing and clutch release bearing
- Gearshift is silky smooth
- Engine feels strong - Pulls well for a B6
- Dipped, Zinc plated, and powder coated OEM Strut brace with makeshift brake stopper
- Brakes are acceptable
- Carbing front tow hook
- Aluminium rad, with a nice slim fan
- Water hoses replaced with silicone hoses (including the heater matrix)
- "Foamectomied" driver seat so I sit nice and low. Might cut the cushion for the back in half though and replace, as I need some lumbar support because I'm old.
- Genuine OMP wheel, quite small.
- D1 Quick Release Steering wheel BOSSU
- Comes with Team Dynamics reps wrapped in Toyo R888's
- Genuine Mazda silver Hardtop - Very lightweight!
- MK2 Soft-top in Good condition with glass window. Inspected this last night, and it is indeed, a good soft-top!
- JDM Yellow jogs, including OEM Front and Rear fog light switches
- TR Lane GPV Roll bar
- TR Lane Harness bar (unfitted)
- Decat
- Cobalt exhaust, although the exhaust tip has been cut off and replaced with a smaller and less conspicuous one ¬_¬...
- Wipac clear headlamps
- Loads more spares - I can't really remember them all!
So, going by the spec list, it's pretty damn good and this is the reason why I was pretty headstrong on this Roadster in the first place. The only thing being the major holdback is the rust.
