Have been a pilot for 19 years & still really really like it. Can be a bit tiring at times working odd hours & getting time off can be a PITA but I wouldn't do anything else. Is that passenger airline- if so who out of interest?

I flew Thomas Cook to Cape Town in Jan for our little parental leave jaunt. I was very impressed with it. Budget long haul is still a bit of a new thing but I'm sold. It was tough with a baby as there are no bassinets but we survived. Worked out half the price of BA so totally worth it. I like the cost cutting around the entertainment and drinks, totally nailed it.
As for dream job... still figuring it out. Wanted to be an RAF pilot but I was too tall. Then we invaded Afghanistan and it didn't look so fun after all... fast forward 16 years and I still don't know what to do but I am lucky to do a job that I enjoy enough and it pays the bills. I'd love to be my own boss one day but doing what I have no idea!

Full on dream job, Astronaut.
More realistic, something in the aerospace industry, preferably manned spaceflight, planning, manufacturing or ops. Done the easy part, just need to find a job now...

That's interesting, I would be quite keen in qualifying as an electrician for the same reason (my eventual plan is to build my own off-grid house), but from the research I did it seemed that you had to have some on-site experience as an electrician's mate. Was that something you did or did you just do the exams? Dude my partner is an electrician. And pretty much only works locally. So if you ever want to have a day to see what it's like or get some experience lemme know. Not sure if she needed to go out as an electricians mate though. She did an expensive course though. Thanks dude! Need to do some more research on costs etc, but I might well take you up on that

I love the job I currently do, but would love to be my own boss someday. The trade I did an apprenticeship in is hard to start up on your own (Toolmaker/prototype machining), so I moved into the mechanical side of engineering to try and work towards a goal I set at the start of last year. I recently bought a Tig welder to start working towards my goal, I'd love to start my own fabrication company within the motorsport industry.

machining is a gradually-being-lost skill. (I'd love to start learning)
