Are you running tps-based boost target? I found that to make my car much friendlier. It is really easy to drive with that. I'm unsure if it makes much of a difference with <300hp, but it is very easy to try, atleast with ms3 Yes it is- using TPSvRPM to target boost. Much easier to drive.

Is my battery knackered? Stupidly, I left the interior light on for 4 days & only found out yesterday. The car was dead as a dodo. I charged it on the CTEK but it didn’t get past stage 3 & the charger got properly hot. The charger has a bike mode which is a bit gentler, I might try that & hopefully that’ll work. Or is it new battery time? It looks like it’s an original type Panasonic.
Just been out to the car & it started ok, but am I looking at a new battery?
Thinking of an Oddysey PC545?

Has your CTEK got a repair mode? That’s worth a try, it’s brought a couple of batteries back from the dead for me.

My CTEK unit set fire to my TVR Tuscan Speed Six. Being a fibreglass car that was a shame …. 🙄

There’s also a guy very local to me who can do a 19T upgrade to my turbo or a VF34 for a good price….

I have a set of forged rods skulking in my garage I bought them second hand locally to send off to Phoenix crankshafts to us as a pattern for my long rods. I doubt if I will use them.

The engine build is rolling along. Engine is out & head off etc- despite a somewhat reluctant turbo-downpipe nut (it would be the most awkward one too that you can’t get a ring spanner or socket on..). Found a few things…. The bores looked really good 😅 The Cam belt was not under much tension 😮 The clutch was worn out after 3000 miles🤬 Not too much carbon build up at all on the valves.😅

Good point Howard. Shaved tyres.
Now do you drive your shaved tyres on the road to the event or are they just for the events? Very interested to know Howard. Hope is all well.
Regards. Rich.

The shaved 1As are great on the road. Wear is weirdly less as the tread blocks have less movement therefore less heat generated.

So, I found a few things out. These engines are pretty tough. There is very little wear in my engine considering that it gets put through its paces quite a lot. The cam belt was shockingly slack, in fact, I don’t know how it hadn’t skipped a tooth on the belt. Also, the con rods had seen better days…… but the engine was still running fine with no knocks or vibrations, but…..
