Hope the engine is good after waiting seven months! I already have plans to change the gold powdercoat for something different. lol The delay was my fault. A few days before I dropped the parts off the guys took on a full restoration - if I would've scheduled the work in properly then there wouldn't have been a delay. The engine ran like a dream on the dyno. Turbo cams aren't too lumpy so it's super smooth and revs really nicely.

I started off being very conservative with everything being painted or bought in plain black. Initially it was supposed to be my "OEM+ approach". Somewhere along the line mission creep came into play. Before I knew it there was an engine poking out of the hood. Tha was the end of being subtle. May as well paint the car neon yellow now

Yeah I love a Cobra. Although... I think I'd actually prefer a Caterham now. Sacrifice the soundtrack to have something tiny and easy to throw about.

So... I've had a few challenges, but never let go of the G-Ltd. Still not finished, but hopefully I'll be working on the car again in the new year.

Not much has happened for a while, but at the weekend I cleared all the old prarrie canoe that had been stacked on the car and swept & mopped the floor. Next on the list is to insulate the garage roof and doors ready for the winter. I'll unwrap the car tomorrow and see what's what.

The garage roof insulation is almost complete and I've ordered a new 8KW diesel heater to replace the fumey propane heater. The new heater doesn't have anywhere near the power output of the propane blower, but I'm hoping it'll deliver a more constant temperature and as a bonus I won't have to worry about the fumes killing me. The glassfiber wall insulation will be removed next year and replaced with PIR board. For anyone interested here's a link www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B0CND2MT7W

On another note, I decided do away with the CAS at the back of the exhaust cam and take the timing signal from the intake cam using a cut BP4W cam cover... When the engine was built, Cat cams were put in to suit solid lifters, I did explain to the builder that I wanted to retain the CAS, but it appears it was lost in translation and the cam set that was bought on my behalf and subsequently fitted didn't accept a CAS. This left me in a position of either A) buying a new set of cams, or B) replacing the cam cover and fitting an intake cam with pickups on it. I settled on option B as it's a few hundred pounds cheaper than option A - even thought it means I won't be able to use the gold powder coated cam cover. It'll still look tidy when it's done, just not what I had planned. I had an old cam cover kicking about, so I've started cutting it down. New Maruha inlet cam gear arrived to match the exhaust cam gear.

Going hall effect with a front cam sensor is clever and frankly superior. However keep a close close eye on the Maruha adjustables. The surface coating of mine wore out fast. Toda Adjustables are superior (lighter, don't appear to wear) but don't support running a hall effect sensor without some physical modification. What cambelt will you run ?
