Damn thing refused to power up. Plus the noise was annoying - always false alarms. It only works on motorways and I try to be sensible on those anyway. It's pointless where you want it.

That is annoying - my one always squawked here and there but it did save my bacon a few times, lol. (Sorry, stopped me from having a crash on clear, straight roads that were so dangerous they needed a speed camera put on them ) They seem to be moving towards laser and average speed cameras now generally, so detectors are less useful than they used to be. I am aware of laser diffusers being effective but I'm also aware that a Perverting The Course Of Justice trial is a hassle... lol I guess it's better to depend on looking ahead properly! (and good brakes ) haha

There are FAR better solutions than any of these. When I have a spare wedge I may be going there

There are devices which let you know if there is an emergency radio within a mile or so. Even if no one is broadcasting on those frequencies. It can even detect their standby presence alone. Hence you will know if any police, ambulance, fire engine is within a mile or so. Even unmarked vehicles will be detected, which must use those radios. Not cheap, but the ultimate solution. For the record... this would be for safety purposes to make sure I wouldn't get in the way of an ambulance on an emergency run, officer.
I don't suppose they would approve. The police state likes to spy on us, but of course it's supposed to be a one way street. So... I don't want to link to any specific product. I am sure there are variations. I hope they are not banned before I can afford to buy one. So let's leave it at that. If you know what I am talking about please don't post it up, just in case they get too much attention and get banned

Stuff back from the bodyshop. Bumper looks perfect. Will be lovely to have no front badge or holes.
The down side - problem with the bonnet cover. The painter did it twice but it bubbled up both times due to "Chemicals are still breathing". Could be anything from two types of filler or the GRP resin. My bet is on the resin as it was only bad where the joins were filled in deeply. So he suggested I leave it a couple of months before trying again.
For now I rubbed down the cover, primered it, then painted it matt black. This will do for the short term to keep it dry. Then we will try again in warmer months. Pics will follow as I'm halfway through it today.

Vacuum form some clear acrylic over it, while you wait for it to cure for paint, a la Corvette C7?

That sounds pretty awesome. No idea how you would do it mind you. Plus it would get scratched to hell after a while. So it would need regular polishing then replacing I guess.

I got bored sitting around this evening so I popped back outside... Cold but at least it's dry...
Bumper is all back together. No front badge or holes now. I will take some better ones in the daylight.
Weather permitting... My goal tomorrow is to: lower my suspension, soften the rebound, swap over the rear panel and look at the ducktail

Good work Have you considered having the front a touch lower than the rear? I think it's supposed to help turn-in and perhaps reduce lift??

Ok interesting
Edit: Front lowered to my scientific 2 finger arch gap. Rear left alone at 2.5. Rebound is half as much now. So hopefully more damping and less pogo stick - compared to the reference Snomad settings

New plain bumper with no badge and number plate holes (which were wonky, so were turned into those old vents)
New rear panel with no badge holes and no scratches
New door pulls which are twice as thick as the old ones
I don't bother putting the black caps on the screws as they always fall off.

Another 5-minute job? lol
Apologies again for adding doorpulls to your list!

No worries The old ones were too thin for the job. They had been stretching over the last year. In the end they were as banged out as an old hooker. New ones look far more fit for purpose.
ps
Right... I deleted the previous references to using black as a temporary hood cover colour. Looked daft. New plan forming... Grey
