I don't see the point in using a road tyre as an inbetween option personally as presumably no matter how good they are you'll still be running the full 8mm of tread on a damp > drying track and depending which way the weather goes you'll be wanting the rainsports or 888s on. Another road tyre will only be marginally better than than the rainsports once the track is fully dry, at which point you'll want to be on the 888s. I can't really vouch for the wet performance yet but the Nankang NS2Rs are b rated in the wet, and a 50/50 road/track tyre... oh and £220 a set in 195.50r15 last time I checked. The tricky bit is that I don't have a trailer to take the car to events on, so what I leave home on is what I'm stuck on for the event. Been thinking about getting a skidnation tyre rack thing but not done it yet.
Where did you find NS2Rs at £220 a set? they're coming up as at least £70 each when I look.
Ahh I see, for me I'd rather be stuck on NS2Rs on a wet day than Rainsports in the Dry. Tyre rack would be useful methinks. That was August last year from Demon Tweeks, you are right they have shot up. Bofi Racing sell them and the 7BHP voucher code always works but I think £70 each might be the best price.

Get the rainsports shaved. Cheaper than a new set of tyres, they still work in the wet & damp but the tread block don’t move so don’t overheat in the dry.

I found my NS2r set were not good in the wet. Pilot sports grip better off the traffic lights in the wet and on a dusty dry surface. NS2r did not grip too well on a cold dusty hillclimb. NS2r brilliant on a clean surface once they got hot. As I do not do trackdays I can not comment on them. I would expect the NS2r to be best on track as they would get warm and all the road dust would be scrubbed off I have a set of 15" NS2r for dry sprints / Hillclimbs. As set of 15" pilot sports for road driving and wet events.
As Boggisimo does track sprints, hillclimbs and road rallys I think that three set of wheels and tyres would be needed.

Thanks for the insights dickie - I have three sets of wheels, so might as well have a good range of tyres on them. For the Pom this weekend at Silverstone, the weather forecast looks pretty grim (~7C and 90% chance of rain), so I'll stick with the Rainsports for that. And NS2Rs look pretty similar to the R888Rs I've got for warm dry track events, so really it's the in-betweener/all-rounders I want to get a better set of.
Will look out for deals on PS3s, and check out the Vredesteins too. Anyone tried the Toyo TR1s yet?

If you want some really good list 1B tyres, look at A052s, everyone I know who used them last year set PBs. They also work when it’s wet, the only drawback is that they’re not cheap.
I’ve got 2 sets of tyres- R888Rs & A052s.
The R888Rs are for when it’s really hot & dry and I don’t want to shred the Yokos on a long track.

Hi Boggosimo,
Looks like you have some of the tyre choice sorted.
I suspect a set for your Rally Adventures will be the next choice to make.
I hope you enjoy the POM. I think Silverstone will be at its best !!! Bloody Cold, Bloody Wet and Bloody Windy !!

Yep, I'm looking forward to it (well, maybe not the weather)...last time it ran in 2020, it was Storm Dennis and cars were spinning off everywhere. My best lap was a fraction under 3 minutes, and my target is 13 laps this year - it was only 10 in 2020 because they adjusted for the conditions, so they might do that again. 13 laps would just be doable in 40 minutes if all my laps were around 3 minutes!

Finally got some bits back from the powder coaters - ebay used cam cover and intake manifold. Wanted the cam cover to match the hoses and plug wires, and while I was there I got the intake done in the same finish. I also got the ebay throttle bodies cleaned up and will send them off to Boggs Bros soon.

Throttle bodies now mounted to a manifold, fabricated by Bogg Bros - only took a few weeks and a few hundred quid.

So, now that this is getting a bit more real, I need to think about the next bits of the ITB build. I hardly know anything about it so please excuse the basic questions! I've read through Bilbo's thread ECU: Not particularly restricted by cost, but just want to buy/fit once. I gather there's a plug and play version of Megasquirt, which is attractive to me as wiring is my least favourite job and I've never done any tuning. I don't have one yet so need to work out which one to get - any opinions on these? Any others I should think about?
Fuel - I've got a set of RX8 yellow injectors, do I even need them for a NA build? What about a fuel rail?
Spark - I've got a COP setup, have been thinking about fitting that even before sorting the ITBs, presume I'd need the new ECU for that?
Vacuum - what do I actually need to connect? I've got a port on the manifold to connect it to.
Sensors - I've got a completely stock NA 1.6 engine and sensors. What else do I need?
What else have I completely forgotten?

ECU: Not particularly restricted by cost, but just want to buy/fit once. 1.6L car? as to ecu, theres plenty to choose from... I've recently bought a pre-loved Speeduino to play with and the infamous Chris Bilbo has a Speeduino pnp up&running / documented in his car, the Megasquirt is a similar platform and shares the same software called 'Tunerstudio' - theres many years of diy knowledge around the internot / anti-social media so plenty of support I think scottydugg also has Speeduino? as to vacuum, that depends on what you expect from the car. I've no interest in an electronically controlled ICV (idle control valve) because racecar but most people do require this level of cold-start stable tickover so use vacuum-stubs on the throttlebodies. the manifold vacuum-takeoff is designed to 'feed' the brake servo... probably more to add when I remember! Rich.

Most ITB tunes are done on TPS load (alpha N) rather than MAP.
1) because it gives better response at lower latency. 2) because the map signal isn't quite so clean on an ITB setup, you need good sources to each runner to get a complete MAP signal.
