To build on a post in another thread relating to oil filters. I had been in search of some decent Japanese made filters, after atlex tipped me off to some questionable Chinese mahle filters in circulation. I swiftly swapped this for a Mann filter. I then found that it is possible to use a Mazda RX8 filter on the mx5. I'm not 100% on this but I think the model number below is for a revised version that was used by Mazda on a special edition RX8. The filter is about 60% taller than oe spec Mann filter but uses the same thread so fits without issue. I also changed to a fully synthetic millers oil, because I abuse the car when I drive it. Big-arsse Tokyo Roki FTW. BTW where'd you find them and at what price ? It looks the same size as the Honda HAMP filter btw. I've been doing some research on filters recently. I should post up. tbh.

I found the rx8 filter on the bay. Not the most reputable source perhaps but then again most of my car is built with parts sourced through eBay. Lol.
They were about 11 quid each. It's nice it is genuine Mazda but in the future I may go for a Honda genuine filter / HAMP because that is what I use on my ep3.
Thanks for putting up that very comprehensive post on filter options, it will help some people out when it comes to oil filter service time.

Did a compression test today to ensure I didn't smesh pistons into valves whilst replacing a front crank seal.....a job I don't want to do again.
All cylinders were around 200psi +/- 10psi
Good enough for me right now.

Quick update, work continues on the car. I did get hold of a GC fabrication strut bar on the cheap. I like the design of it, single piece, sits far back in the bay. Although I did have to trim a small piece of plastic from the airbox to get it in without rubbing. As the car is an early eunos it didn't come with much in the way of bracing so I will probably add more in future. I'm still driving the car and enjoying it when I can.

I had some time today so went out for a drive but before I did, one of the rather sheltered baby boomers that seem to make up the majority of residents where I live passively aggressively told me my car was too loud on idle and he thought it was a helicopter. Lol. After not really caring about what they thought I went about my business. After the drive I did some routine bits, acf 50 in the sills, topped up the coolant a smidge.
