Growing up, my dad used to be a bit of a tinkerer with cars. I remember we had classic mini's, beetles, VW camper van, MK1 and MK2 Golfs etc. Then we grew up, and the rents couldn't really afford to have a fun car. So, when I bought my mx5 my dad got a bit jealous. So Christmas 2014 the family bought him one. Much to my mum's objections lol It wasn't the best of cars at £550, twas all we could really afford. Colour wasn't important as he wanted to get it sprayed. So queue the silver one. It's lowered on springs and has 17inch wheels. The ride was horrible! I pretty much do everything on the car, and this was the first job, a big 'ol K&N filter and some silicone hoses. I, however, did not do this lol New bumper, ebay special and some TSI's from Moss Some red lockwood dials were added, the red works much better than my yellow ones Bought a dual exit exhaust from Fizbne more to come

OOoooooo i like that bumper! How was fitment being an ebay special? Fitment was alright, have to drill the holes yourself to fit, which is a bit of a pain. You'll also need the top mounting bracket from the original bumper to hold it properly at the top. Not bad for £120 I think. The lights at the bottom are wired into the sidelights, as obvs they are lost when installing TSI's, but there's also angel eye rings in the main bulb units... edit: that picture was taken before putting that bracket on, you can see the dip in the middle lol

Next job, to start making the car all sexy and smooth! Oh, and some clear side repeaters. Oh and some wheels were bought, plastidip was experimented with, but then decided they were not what he wanted. (They are/will be for sale soon) A random hard top was purchased. Thing about my dad see, is he is a massive ginger. He goes red very quickly, maybe a soft top wasn't the best choice but hey, hardtop does the job! Oh and a bit more smoothing was done.

Something shiny happened when MX5 Dan started a group buy in parallel universe. also bought a random ducktail bootlid Then got the angel eyes and sidelights sorted, not a fan of the angel eyes myself but whatever, not my car! Quad rear panel in all it's glory. and a numberplate bulb is out Had a bit of a fun times installing the mk2 dash. Then once it was in... realised the dash that was bought wasn't complete. NO HEATER PIPES! I was not pleased. Had to rip it all out and JYD to the rescue, I managed to get it all in. So we have an almost full mk2 interior swap. Got the dash and seats. Bit jealous of the mk2 seats, they are much nicer than the stock mk1 cloth seats. Oh and the pebble/stone driveway that has eaten many screws and random small bits, like one of my 10mm sockets. Daddy was very insistent on having some bonnet vents. And not wanting to go full on and just buy a vented bonnet, he did this... I arrived just as he finished cutting the holes in the bonnet. Not 100% sure if it's going to screw with any electrics, but that's not my problem. Well it will be when I have to fix it AND this is how we are today. Primered and mostly ready to MOT, just need some new 15 inch wheels OOh and both mirrors are on, from autolink Now that all the visual stuff has been sorted (My mum started to get pissed off that there was a silver, white, red and black MX5 sitting on the driveway). There has been talk of some forced induction

Finished work early the other day, sun was shining and wanted to drive my car a bit more so when I was about 10 minutes from home decided. Screw it, I'll go for an hours drive to my dads. He was about to put laquer over the primer. So I went to Halfords and bough some spray paint, only a couple of cans just to test . Colour is rover gunmetal. This will be the colour soon

That is looking pretty good for rattle cans...
All a bit too "venty" and chrome for my taste, but I like the colour, and all looking much tidier.
Good workwork.

Yeah, I agree tsi's, vented headlight and bonnet vents is a bit too much! It's funny, my dad convinced my mum to get a Tailgate McNoIndicate Mini Cooper S and he's taken all the chrome off of it, the exact opposite to the mx5. I have no vents or chrome on my mx5
