Thats what I was going to do, in that earlier post I just meant its a faff as you can't get underneath it without pulling the expansion tank out of the way to get a spanner on it, easy done but just annoying really, not that I will be pulling the wing off frequently lol.

I replaced all the slider pins, rubbery bits and hidden splined adjuster thingies on my rear brake calipers (these: ). I couldn't find any online shops with stock so had to get them from my local Mazda dealer's parts department. The old sliders were looking pretty bad - new vs old here:

I've been doing more cleaning of the engine bay today, tidying up bits here and there, looked at the state of the rusty strut top nuts and for 3 quid each, just ordered 4 new ones from MX5 parts. Not cheap for nuts yes, but the old ones look awful so stuff it lol!

Ordered my new head-gasket, seals I'd missed, new rear main crank seal and a tool for fitting it.
Plan is to pick a clutch that'll future proof against the supercharger and get this fitted up whilst it's in the air.
OEM valve stem seals have been fitted now, just need to collect the head.

No small parts delivery from MX5 parts today, just checked and not even dispatched yet! Damn! In pre-covid times they would dispatch same day if ordered before 3pm, i guess that can't be done anymore!

Yeah always been really fast for me too, that's why I thought it was odd! Checked my emails again just now and still no dispatch - so like a sulky teenager, i went onto the website to check the order history - and my orders are marked as despatched yesterday, so just no email - i'll take that!

Took it out for about the first time in about two weeks. Still a small lake sloshing around in the sills - I presume that's the reason my driver's side footwell is now also now soaking... I had a look for the drain holes along the sills - nothing is jumping out at me so I think I might have to post a photo and ask for someone to actually point out what I'm supposed to be looking for... Aux belt is also squeaking like a biatch and the voltmeter in the cigarette lighter is showing down to about 13v, so I'll get that changed as I have been meaning to do and mentioned previously. (It's hard to motivate when I'm not going anywhere and have no money to go anywhere...) Other than that, the winter tyres are definitely moving around more than the Summers - it's quite good having lower limits, feels less like it's going to snap away and more like it's going to be gradual. (The NS-2R also had quite square sidewalls, which made turn-in a bit weird in tighter corners.) I had some interesting wheelspin moments out of junctions, not always intentional! I am wondering if the compound has gone hard with age as they do lock up quite easily, but then the Hawk pads can be quite snatchy... lol

Either side of each point there is a little bump, those are your drains. Narrow screwdriver up each till it's clear. I'd be doing it ASAP if your sills are full. Shows them HERE

Changed both the gearshift boots for new Mazda parts. The top one was shredded, but the bottom one was OK - I changed it anyway.
Discovered that MX5parts forgot to put the nylon bush into the kit they sent me, but luckily the existing one was OK so I've put that back in for now. There was basically no turret oil in it at all!

Get that dried out immediately. And clear out the holes as Scotty suggested. I'd go further than poke a screwdriver in. Get a selection of drillbits for metal and work your way up through 2mm to 6mm. The holes get clogged by debris. Mucher safer with bigger holes. Any exposed metal will flash over with rust pronto. The risk is trapped water.

I think the best thing for the turret oil is something thicker than regular gearbox oil. Maybe 175w ? The thinner stuff seams to leak out after a year or two.
